Sell my Gtx460 for 6950?

Thread Starter
So basicallly i have had interest in my 460 , although im not really looking to sell, but if i get a close price to what i paid, i might sell... So i'm thinking is the 6950 (flashable to 6970) a worthwhile upgrade? should i do it, or be patient more?

the problem is that my mobo can't Xfire/SLI, so i'm also trying to think about the future, i would be greatful for any useful advice/help

Cheers

Your PSU should handle the 6950 fine. Most brands unlock, reference or not. I would personally just grab this one because it is cheaper than most 1GB cards and it is 2GB and reference.

As for unlocking, it should work (the majority of them unlock) however at the same clocks the performance difference is only 5% and in my personal opinion not worth the extra heat, noise etc but whatever.

Anyways you should be fine, and the 6950 is about 40%-45% faster than a GTX 460 I think.

Depends.
If youre gaming at 1080P, the 6950 is a good candidate.

If youre at 1680 X 1050/1600 X 1200 or below, I would put the money elsewhere or save.
You could also double up the GTX 460's and run them in SLi which would be faster then a 6950 or close to it while still having a superior/more reliable driver set.

If youre PSU can support it and you have 1GB GTX 460's, they romp in SLi.
Your CPU might have trouble getting the most out of out GF-104's but I am not sure on that one.

Go for the 6950 2GB, it's worth it and it's certainly better than your GTX 460.

His motherboard can't do SLI. Considering how cheap 6950s (compared to other cards) are in the UK it is pretty much his best bet. He would most likely be getting a 6970 for about £75 less.

Performance wise I can agree with this.
The 2GB 6950 is the deal right now... I just hope AMD's drivers have kept improving, I see they have fixed/addressed many of the issues people have been having.
