Therefore with a 1055T you're more limited to board quality/spec than you are on a 1090T, hence motherboard dependent.

1090T only needs an fsb of 200mhz (stock) and a multi of 21 to hit an easy 4.2Ghz

1055T needs 300Mhz, not all boards can do that, not even mentioning how it affects the memory.
S**t dude. I completely forgot the 1055t didn't have an unlocked multiplier. My bad!

If you want the best price/performance chip out at the moment get the 2500k. If you are willing to wait a few months then wait for bulldozer.

If you want to buy something right now and don't have enough for SB and want to save money then don't get the 1090t, get a Phenom II x4 955 instead and overclock it to 4GHz.

An x4 955 is enough to max out just about any game currently on single monitor setups at 1080p when coupled with a 6870.

If you still want a PhII x6 then get the 1055T instead of the 1090T. They are the same chip except the 1055T has a lower default clock. There is literally one setting in the BIOS that you can change to make it the same as a 1090T. Both chips have the same overclock ceiling.

EDIT: Just looked at your current system specs. Why do you want to upgrade? Your current rig is fine
How can they be the exact same chip. I thought that the 95w TDP and the 125w TDP 1055T were exactly the same. How then can the 125w only TDP 1090T be "exactly" the same. Please explain.

One has to look at the differences between the chips,i would talk to the older guys who are not hung up on brands or have typical young complex issues, get the i5 for the younger brother throw him your old g-cards and go for the two 580's.

To answer the new question the 125W 1055T & 1090T when compared are not any different in anything but clock speed. Note that there may be different binning for overclocking.

Anyways, the initial question has been answered, so thread closed.
