[Windows 7/8] Complete Client v7.3.6 Guide - Page 47

@deafboy Yes you will, I always forget to look for two entries of "graphics" in the sig as opposed to "480 SLI" like it would say on the old site.

Anyway yes you will need two copies of the GPU client, and I've never set up two of them on the same machine but this guide should set you up.

Perfect, thats what I figured, I remember doing something like this a few years back with my 8800GTS cards.

Thanks again. And yes, I agree. lol. Harder at a glance at the sig compared to what it used to be.

The systray client is really more efficient than the console client?

No I'm sure if there is any sort of performance difference it would be a .001% advantage towards the console client but I just prefer the systray so that's what I recommend (especially in the case of the guy I wrote that post for was a newbie). The performance increase comes from the advmethods WUs which are better for both the GPU and CPU PPD, and the benefit of not being on the v7 beta which has been pretty good in my experience but betas are betas. But you can do the advmethods WUs on either the systray or the console v6 client whichever you prefer, in the console client it asks you a simple yes/no for enabling advmethods WUs during set up.

Downside, now the CPU is up, running at 100% thanks to the VM, but now the GPU dropped from 100% to all over the place, mostly around 40%.

Hmm I don't think I've run into that one. Did you set them up correctly for running dual cards, like the machine IDs? try closing one of the GPU clients, does the other one go to 100% then? What GPU drivers are you using? Oh try disabling SLI while folding, I've seen that cause them to fluctuate from 80-99% but never as low as 40%.

Ah drivers could very well be the problem. You want either the 290.53 beta or all the way back to the 266.58 WHQL. Do a custom install and check the clean install option when you install those and then test them out with SLI disabled and folding on just one card and see how it does.

Yup, I knew they were for Fermi only. Thanks for clarifying that the PPD increase may not apply at lower performance levels, but that the reduction in CPU resources (for concurrent SMP folding) still applies at all levels. That's good information for folks to know. I took it for granted that folks would understand what I meant, but more clear information is always better.  :)
