Triple Monitor Setup

Sorry for the dumb question, but can I hook up three monitors to my desktop as long as my graphics card has 3 different inputs for it?

Depends on the GPU

On ATi/AMD GPUs, you can only use 2 of the 3 following connections: DVI, DVI, HDMI. The third monitor must come out of the display port.

On nVidia cards, all outputs should work without any conditions. However, most nVidia cards only have 2 outputs.

I don't have a card yet, but I'm just wondering for future reference. Any recommendations?

Nvidia cards can only use 2 outputs. They are like the ATI's but without the additional displayport output.

i also have a question about triple monitor setup...how would an over clocked i3 at 4 GHZ perform on 4800x900 with a pair of 470??
i have known at those enormous resolutions GPU is the one playing most of the role but still would like to confirm

I'd say you have a CPU bottle neck right there. Go with a true quad i5 at the minimum with that kind of setup.

Like with my 470 (and most new cards from nvidia), you can only have two/three going at the same time. So, dvi dvi or hdmi/dvi. Can't do DVI DVI HDMI all at the same time.

It's a big marketing scam to get you to buy another GPU. ^_^
