Anyone got any opinion on a Striker + E9 combo against the Xonar?

Don't buy the FiiO E9 unless you are upgrading to better headphones from the Sennheiser HD201 which you are apparently using right now, you wont see any difference in sound, i also don't think its worth changing your current sound card to the STX.

I think you are far better off spending that money on something else or simply saving it for any future pc upgrades.

In that case the E9 should be more then enough to drive the D5000's, have you thought about a DAC/Amp Hybrid?

If you're dumping 700 dollars on headphones, the striker+Fiioe9 is a poor poor poor DAC.

You should now be looking into buying an external DAC for those headphones. No reason whatsoever to use Denon 5000s on a Striker.

An external DAC with an amp. What's your budget?

For 200 dollars, the price of the ST, you should be looking at the Maverick Audio Tube Magic D1

Or the Audio-Gd NFB-12 or FUN if you can find it cheap in your area.
