Well, that was no-haggle price, plus the lens is 3 plus years old. I price to sell.

Bah. Maybe I'll order that 135L now, still have 6 minutes to get it overnight for tomorrow.

Here's a better idea - since you love your 85/1.8 so much, why not sell it and go for the 85/1.2L? That's Canon's most amazing prime IMO.

Because it's way too slow-focusing for BMX/Autocross shooting.

I think you may be underestimating it. Slow AF was a common complaint on the 85/1.2 mark I, but the mark II is allegedly twice as fast now (though many claim the 85/1.8 is still faster). The 85 is Canon's most amazing prime IMO. I'm considering selling my 24-70 next just to get it.

I don't need the extra stop of light, and I certainly don't think that I need another 85mm in my bag. The 1.8 is light, compact, and delivers great IQ. It's also well out of my price range, and since I'm not depending on photog to pay my bills, it makes even less sense.

I don't want to be one of those people that gets really caught up in gear -- I actually held off on the 135 and decided to take a week off in late April to travel with a couple other photog friends.

On another note, I freakin' love POTN! I went ahead and put my 70-200 and 50/1.4 up and within the hour I sold both! 70-200 with tripod collar for $1100, and 50/1.4 for $300. That gives me just enough to get a 35L.
I have the 35L, 85L, 135L

I know there has been some arguments over which 3 are the trinity but I pretty sure this combo is the most popular "Trinity"

I believe if you have the 50L you won't need the 35 or the 85 and just go with a 50 + 135.

I have the Mark II 85 1.2 L and it is still comparatively slow to all my other L's. The 135L is lightening fast, the 35L is no slouch, but the 85, you can actually *wait and listen* to the magnetic focus ring drive the glass lol. The glass is so heavy that it feels more like a telescope that is recalculating its co-ordinates. The glass element actually physically extends out like a zoom. It doesn't allow manual focus unless its powered up.

I once made the following analogy of the 3 lenses.

35L: The wife that you can rely on. beautiful and consistent.

85L: The gorgeous but demanding mistress that is expensive and makes no sense in your life but you can't let go of cause when its good its REALLY good.

135L: The fun and crazy girl on the side, you don't see her much but you have fun with her when you do.

35L: Need
85L: Want
135L: Have

if you're serious about selling the 24-70 next, keep me in mind, that might be my logical step to replace the two zooms in my bag.. especially if you're offering it for a decent price

I'm still a bit confused about why you have those two. Seems like a lot of overlap to me
