G.Skill: Ripjaws vs. Ripjaws X

Thread Starter
Ripjaws X: F3-12800CL9D-4GBXL
Ripjaws: F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL

The original Ripjaws has much much much more review as it's an older model, and the X doesn't have many reviews since it's pretty new. But both have GOOD reviews...

From spec, they seem to be pretty much exactly the same thing. Looks are slightly different.

Anybody have any idea? The X is $3 cheaper.

Should I stick to the trend or try the newer one?

Newer cooling design, chips, and takes less voltage. Get the x series.

Pretty much identical, I asked this question a few days ago, and the Ripjaws X are pretty much the same, except for a black PCB and that new heatspreaders. Save the money and go for the X's

Really? They're both 1.5v from spec.

Do you find the new heatsink to be superior to the older one?

PCB, as in the circuit board the memory chips are on, is black, the old ones were green IIRC. Dont actually have the kit, but both heatsinks wont have any problems with keeping the temperatures in check

Do you guys know if the Ripjaw series can be mixed and matched with the Ripjaw X? I currently have the P6X58D mobo with one Ripjaw in it. If I invest in the Ripjaw X will they work together well?
Probably but since you have the non X I'd go with another non X stick.
Why did you buy just 1 stick anyway, you have dual channel???
