Looking for an AD700... - Page 2

Might be a loose driver(or a deformed diaphragm that can be fixed by reshaping via blowing air at it), open it if you're not afraid of taking it apart. It's very hard to break them unless you're smart enough to puncture the driver. Just make sure the screws(there's 3 of them) don't fall into the driver.

They don't need to be amped, but to sound the best, amplification is required.

personally i would buy new at higher cost from amazon but if you don't mind that it might come with some minor flaws or cosmetic imperfections as they put it, go for it its cheap.
I wouldn't worry about it. Their feedback is superb.

Thanks.

I got the RMA today. I asked if they had a new one and they didn't so I asked for a refund.

It improves very very little when amped (to say an $550 amp like I have). The source is much more important for the AD700s.

I would love to add a top quality sound card, but my Crossfire takes up all the space and I have no slots available.
Then get an external DAC.

I was actually looking into a DAC, and keep my CMoy in my car. Makes a big diff when I play my SmartPhone tunes on it.
I'll see how the cans sound, before I spend more money.

I got my new cans from Newegg. Used the $25 new account discount posted on OCN to get em for $81, shipped.

WOW, what a difference from the refurbs. No vibration or buzzing, no loose cord by the head piece, and both ear's sound level is the same.

This cans sound great. Sooo glad I sent the refurbs back.

I have to disagree. The Cmoy is making a world of difference and I can't wait to get my Mini3 kit, and research and build a nice DAC.

It's because you use onboard. If you had a proper sound card driving them, the difference is almost nil.
