Okay so the difference isn't that great but it's still in the HD6850's favour. Really comes down to what games you play, honestly.

From the same review, the gap widens at higher resolutions

That's what matters unless the OP plays at 1024x768

He hadn't listed his display, so I defaulted to the cover-all-angles option.

Asus HD 6850:
  • Can be unlocked into a 6870 via a bios flash.(That's a big thing, really increasing the speed of the thing to way above the other card
  • Has more VRAM depending on the other card, which means it is better to use with a 2 or more monitor setup or memory intensive applications.

ASUS GTX 460
  • Has a better SLI link interface (Compared to CrossFire)
  • Cheaper price
  • Has PhysX
  • Currently has a better driver system
  • Though it is considerably slower that the ATI 6850 when that one is unlocked and has less VRAM.

So personally I choose the 6850, because of the ability to unlock it into a 6870, dramatically increasing performance. It also has more VRAM, which is great for multi-monitor displays.

Also, check this out for a full comparison between 460 stock v. 6850 stock v. 6870 (AKA unlocked 6850) It also includes the overclocking comparison if you interesting in doing that.

A lot of stuff wrong with this.

First, you can not unlock a 6850 to a 6870.

Second, crossfire scales much better than sli.

Third, stock vs stock the 6850 is a faster card.

Forth, Nvidia's and ATI drivers are pretty equal, this coming from someone who has rolled through around 4-5k in gpus in the last year alone.

Finally, make sure you know what you are talking about when posting information to someone.

Some people don't frequent this site, and only pop in occasionally to ask for help and advice. There's nothing wrong with that.
