Whats better for sb, timmings or Mhz

Thread Starter
hey guys, i am building a fairly nice rig, a 2600k under water, asus deluxe, vertex 3 (when its out) sapphire 6990 (under water when blocks come out). Problem is i want to sell my ram, and buy a better ram or of equal speed. The ram i currently have is this i was thinking of selling it to someone (been used 4-5 months), How much can i ask for ? and with the money i get, buy some ripjaws. The true question is, with the ripjaws for a p67 board whats more important timmings or mhz?

is this a good set? cas 6

or should i go with this cas 9

You will see better performance with the lower CL than the higher MHz.

Go with the DDR3-1600 set.

EDIT:If your Pis can run at DDR3-2200 at 6-9-6-21 I'd definitely keep those.

Just bought the 1600mhz one and it works great but I would say the ram you currently have is better.

timings > frequency
and when you find the perfect balance of both you blow minds.

Example: DDR1 platform, DDR2 ram speed, SDR timings, and DDR3 bandwidth.

I believe Ram speed is actually better for SB than timings_

I made a review somewhere on my ram_ They are Rated at 1333mhz CL 7-7-7-21-2T with XMP Profile Enable, and at 9-9-9-24-1T at 1333mhz without XMP Profile Enable_

Oddly 9-9-9-24-1T Out perform 7-7-7-21-2T by a little bit(which I found awkward)

So basically 1T is always gonna be faster than 2T_

Well heres a link_ http://www.overclock.net/intel-memor...gb-review.html

Hope that helps you out

I actually got the ram to 7-9-7-20-1T but that was at 1.65volts and well I didn't like the high voltages so I just kept mine at 8-9-8-20-1T at 1.5volts(which I don't have a post of the bench up, I'll get one up this weekend because I am in school right now and won't be home til thursday)_ I actually got up to 20k mb copy/read/write with 8-9-8-20-1T
