Man, thank you all alot for the help.
I realized something about the process though. For a couple bucks more each time, here and there, there is always something a little bit better. And I have to stop somewhere haha.

But here's what I have from all you so far:

CPU Phenom II x4 955
CPU Cooler Scythe
MotherBoard asus_m4a79xtd_evo
Case Haf 912
Video Card sapphire 6870
Hard Drive western digital 500gb 7200rpm
RAM Team Xtreem Dark Series
ODD Drive
PSU Antec 750w

Anything I missed? Last suggestions? cost cutting options?

1600mhz will work with no issue. Spend on 1600Mhz because it's much cheaper and you could just downclock to 1333 if it doesn't work and lower timings.

That last list looks pretty good, you may want to take advantage of combo deals though.

And here are those combo deals that'll help you reduce cost (or get better parts):
955 + SCMG-2100 cooler ($7 discount) - $173
M4A79XTD EVO + in-stock ASUS 6870 - $319, $289 AR
Sony 24X DVD - $20 shipped (save a buck? )

You may want to use the saved money on:
Antec 750W + Lancool K62 - $165 (Much better case IMO and great combo deal)
Samsung F3 500GB - $45 (much faster)

Yeah, I hope it's compatible. I'll try to see if there are any combos as well

Edit: Oh, ninja'd my combo post, I'll look at those now.

Motherboard and ram too. But for that mobo the qvl is awfully short and definetly doesn't have "team xtreem" on it. =/
Their only 2x2gb is nowhere to be found really. Does the ram really have to be on the qvl to work?

It'll be awhile till I end up crossfiring the gpu's.

Since I was aiming for that case I'll end up getting that fan.
The RAM doesn't need to be on the Qualified Vendors List to work. It'll work just fine. QVL is just RAM they've tested themselves to work.

I'll take advantage of many combos I can find, but i noticed that the Asus 6870 is different than the sapphire 6870...of course. But what makes cards like that different?

Looks pretty much perfect. You should go with that. You should go with the combo deals from xd for the 955+Scythe Mugen 2, the M4A79XTD EVO+Asus Radeon HD 6870, but with the last two you'll end up paying more. The Lancool+Antec TPN750 will cost you $15 more. The Spinpoint F3 will add $5 more to the price, and thus it will be $20 cheaper. The case is better on some things than the HAF 912, but for all intents and purposes the PSU is not better. I don't think it warrants the $15 extra.

Thanks bunches haha, now to order when all of it is in stock. But what would be the difference between that Asus Radeon HD 6870 and the sapphire 6870?

Same thing? Different look?

Apart from the sub-vendor difference, the Asus card comes with a tiny 15MHz Core over-clock.
