And why do we need apps exclusive to tablets? Doesn't quite make sense...at least on android it scales up and you're good to go.

I am looking forward to what HP has in the works with Palm

If you think the screen is terrible go look at the xoom, the iPads aspect ratio works fine, and it's screen literally owns the xoom, in contrast, brightness, and blacks, not to mention far better viewing angles. Go to your local best buy and compare them, you will see, I'm looking forward to samsungs galaxy screen.

The iPad is too big, 7" ftw, Steve Jobs thinks they're useless but the display model Galaxy Tab fits into my hands far better than the display model iPad, just sayin...

If Apple has 5 times the apps that Android does, than Apple has 5 times the same apps than Android does.

Like seriously, I've got iPod Touch, sure its fun lots of apps but the best once always cost. On my HTC Desire I find so much more useful apps and almost all of them are free.

You're right, the xoom has a pretty trash display...but at least it's got a logical resolution. 4:3 aspect ratio is ridiculous...what other modern multimedia device do you see that sports a 4:3 ratio?

And that galaxy 8.9" screen definitely seems like a step in the right direction. As long as the build quality is on par with the rest of Samsung's displays, it will definitely capture my interest.

Whilst 16:9 (or 16:10) is great for movies, and games in landscape, it's not so great for anything in portrait. 4:3 is multi-purpose. Good for books, movies, photos, games, etc. Portrait or landscape.

From the reviews I read about the Xoom it's not so great in portrait.

While there are some apps that do the same thing (occurs on all platforms) a lot of them do have some differences. Which is where user reviews and 'free versions' come into play.

Your vehicle is a clone of mine as they all use an engine and ride on wheels.

Yes the Xoom can run anything off the Android market but the iPad can run iPhone apps as well. I still find it absurd that an SDK is released after the product launch, native apps are always better. I just wish they would push the SDK out before the product launches like Apple usually does to give the developers a head-start. There is no reason not to, it's a benefit to the consumer when there is a good selection of native apps at launch and chances are if people see there is a decent App Market at launch they will consider the purchase of your product more seriously.

I love to tinker and love fiddling around with a rooted Android device but just like my jailbroken iPhone I get bored after an hour or two of messing with it and just don't see the point beyond a little tweaking. This is what's holding me back from getting a Xoom or Galaxy tablet, I find them bloated when all I want to do is surf the internet and play the occasional time wasting game.

I own an iPhone and iPad and use my girlfriends Android phone and enjoy them all. But I still can't fall in love with Android.

Exactly right, that theme seems to be agreed upon by mostly everyone that's had their hands on both devices. Widescreen is good for movies and that's really it, yet for some reason people still like to bring that up. People, if you don't think you'll use a tablet in portrait mode for anything, better think again.

I still haven't seen the Xoom displayed in portrait mode for that matter.

As far as the apps go, there's one company to blame. I can't imagine how companies like Samsung and Motorola can continue to support Android when they're continually being bent over by Google. These companies spend god knows how much developing and producing tablets, only to be utterly let down by the software. That free OS isn't so free anymore, it's gotta be costing them millions. Makes sense then that Motorola is developing their own custom OS.

Yes, you're right, and that's exactly what we're saying. iPad's 20,000 apps vs. Android's 17 apps. We're not talking about other phone apps working on the tablet, we're talking about tablet apps working on the tablet.

wait 2 months, and tell me how many apps there are. Nothing works on 3.0.... thats why. Once all the programmers write a patch/update for their app, it will work on droid 3.0, so then it will be back in the thousands....
