When 98% of android apps work on the tablet, they kinda become tablet apps.

An android application is an android application.

If it's functional on a tablet, that is incidental, but it doesn't mean it's invalid.

Are people really this dumb?

From the reviews I read about the Xoom it's not so great in portrait.
Oh please I would like to read these reviews because I'm 100% sure you made that up.

In fact I'm browsing these forums in portrait mode.

You do not understand. Android uses a framework where as iOS bases everything off of pixels, where as Android they framework kicks in and everything is crisp. Old iPhone apps on the iPhone 4 do this for it too.

There are so many useless Apps these days. With iPhone i could only get one App that would help my phone better. With Android i could use at least 10+ App to make my phone more useful. In short all those crap Apps in both markets suck and are irrelevant.

I never make things up, so go for it. All I remember reading across several reviews is: ~"heavier in portrait", ~"slightly uncomfortable in portrait", etc.

No, iOS doesn't. It uses a point system; that's how iPhone apps on the iPhone 4 work.

Dedicated apps matter. The iPad can run hundreds of thousands of iPhone apps, yet even if they were scaled to fit the whole screen they still wouldn't be nearly as functional in comparison to an app written specifically for the iPad.

Look at Mail for the iPhone and then imagine it scaling up to fill the whole screen on the iPad and compare it to the iPad version. Dedicated apps have more space to work with, and are much better.

Having to use your forearm muscles a little more because the extra length effects eyes? Interesting.

I never said anything about the phone apps being better, all I said is that the phone apps run fine on the tablet. The problem right now is developers and companies seem to think not developing for Android is smart.

Netflix is just one of those douchey companies I'm referring to, worried about DRM... I have a PVR, I could easily use the HDMI attachment on the iPad 2 and record the movies easier then I would be able to on my computer, but the morons insist on DRM.

What are you talking about? Did you read each and every one of those articles? Arstechnica has the most complaints about portrait mode, particularly page 2.

What exactly is that supposed to prove???

EDIT: Ah I see what you mean. So the app running on the Xoom is the same (unmodified) as that on the phone?

When I say "point" system, I mean that an application is defined in points not pixels. I.E, one point can be equal to one pixel, or two pixels on the iPhone 4, etc.

Fair enough, although from the reviews I've read (same as linked) I read regular apps crash a lot. Not that I'm really interested in proving anything about the Xoom.

What i don't understand why can regular android apps work on a Androind tablet?
If they got software to enlarge and fits the app on the display bit of AA for for textures if its a gaming app?
