Just bought GTX 580. Was it worth it? - Page 4

If you want to buy a monitor (you should), then go to TFT-Central for a start.

I bought a Dell U2311H three weeks ago and I've spent a week reading reviews to find the best monitor for my needs and possibilities.

Welcome to OCn, where we support you in spending your money.

When you get a 1080p monitor you won't regret it, heck, maybe even step it up to a 1600p monitor and make things worthwhile!

My current monitor is acer and I like it a lot xD
I've owned Acer's in the past and they were OK back then. Nowadays, it's hard to say. I don't know how to feel about a company that does not include even a basic DVI cable with their monitors, like the one you have here.

Personally, there are two main things that I refuse to skimp out on when it comes to computers. One is the power supply because you definitely need clean, stable power. The other is the monitor. If I'm going to be staring at something for however many hours in a day, and use it to interface with the system, I want it to be one where I enjoy looking at it.

My suggestion would be to read up as much as you can first (especially in the Monitors and Displays section of this forum), but most importantly, you should try to see and use the monitors in person. This way you can make a personal and informed choice.

GTX 580 is prolly the card with the worst price/performance ratio atm (besides the dual gpus).

Should've went for the GTX 560 or GTX 570.

It's definitely not for everyone, that's for sure.

Yes everyone is right that your monitor isn't doing that card justice. You bought the best single GPU on the market btw. It may be $100 over priced but it's still the best single card.

Now save up and get the 23" ASUS VG236H and immerse yourself in ultra-smooth and vivid 3D action in tru 1080HP at 1920x1080 resolution on a 120Mhz refresh monitor for $479.00usd. Comes with Nvidia 3D glasses to complete the set. You'll have the best single card monitor combo out there.

I'm almost there myself. Almost.

P.S. Welcome to OCN. You'll find a variety of posters here. Most are helpful for the most part, but all are very passionate. Good luck.

You should have bought the 560 or 570 then overclocked them AND bought a new monitor. 580 is a great card, just not worth 500$.

Oh ya, Welcome to OCN! I love this site. Cheers
