I'm quite fond of receiving my games through content managers such as Steam and EA Downloader. No Need to worry about scratched discs and no need to purchase a peripheral I don't need.

Not everyone owned a DVD drive at first. Games had two boxes. One had several CD's, the other had a single DVD.

Same can happen for bluray. You could have a few DVDs, or the single bluray disc.

I don't think it's really worth it. Games are really moving towards digital distribution as the only means to buy them. There's no point in trying to drag out the physical media as long as possible.

No need for discs, needs MOAR DIGITAL DOWNLOADS. Seriously though, BD-readers start at around $50 and would just increase the cost. If Crysis and Metro 2033 can be fit onto a single layer DVD, then we should be good for a couple of years. But then again, network infrastructure is so bad in the U.S. that not many people would be able to DL 25-50 GBs of stuff, which is why pure Blu-ray torrents (40 Mbps) are pretty much nonexistent.

Edit: Steam needs to be more aggressive and advertise their services to the console crowd.

I'd actually want the PC gaming market to move solely to digital distribution. I love how Steam operates and its DRM. Blu-ray media will be too expensive.

Also, most games that come out today on PC are console ports. We will never need anything more than dual layer DVD's.

Do you realize how long it took for PC games to go from CD to DVD format? Many many years and even after dvd's and dvd drives became "cheap."

I highly doubt they'll but put on Blu-ray disc. Downloading is present and the future.
