I have a confession to make: I love Crysis 2! (and the bugs are fixed!!!) - Page 2

YAY! Finally someone else agrees with me!

I love this game and the graphics are great for me! Better graphics detail (In Extreme mode) than the last 2 IMO as well.

I guess I need to practice the sliding and ledge grabs now, I've been having too much fun just shooting my way through so far. Well ... sometimes I have to be sneaky. My favorite though is taking the big guns off vehicles and watching the bad guys explode when they get hit, blood goes everywhere!

I stopped playing until they fix the horrible AI, CF issues, and my key already being used in multiplayer.

Really disagree with most of your pros, but to each their own.

Please forgive me for this huge post here, but I don't like ignoring anyone. So really, it's just a bunch of small replies in one post.

Doh! Sorry.

Just a word of warning: you may hate it at first because it is very, very, very different from the first Crysis (just as Crytek promised). So don't give up (and keep the initiative! You'll get this joke later. hehe). In my opinion, it's like upgrading straight from Windows XP to Windows 7, or from Office 2003 to 2010: after using it for a while, you begin to love it and you begin to understand why they made the changes that they made!

I didn't like that at first either. However, the game has somehow grown on me. I think that it's due to not giving up or something; I almost quit playing, but I decided to give this game my best and now here I am totally in love with it even though it's buggy (because I am hoping that Crytek will fix them).

I'm glad too!

So, I'm currently at the level named "Masks Off": how close to the end am I?

Also, did you ever reach 8,000 Nano Catalyst? I mean, I haven't tried to reach the first checkpoint in Masks Off yet, however so far it seems like I'll never reach 8,000 because each new level starts me off with zero (plus, I'm reset to zero when I die). Although, I'm half-expecting to defeat some alien soon that gives me like 10,000 Nano Catalyst or something. lol

Nevertheless, glad its grown on ya!
Wait, even when starting a whole new game as opposed to just loading your first checkpoint? If so, then it really is dependent on the profile! I mean if so, then it sounds like the only way to start fresh (with no suit modules) is by using a new profile.

Anyway, I'm glad too!

I admit that I'm still kinda somewhat missing the freedom of the first Crysis, but I'm missing it less and less because I'm starting to see why it's different in this respect.

Anyway, yeah this story really is more engaging. It's like the story is far more important or prominent whereas before it was just me running around and hunting Koreans in various ways for the lulz (I normally quit the game once I enter the mountain since that means I'm done hunting Koreans).

Ooo, and I can't forget the increased aggressiveness of this new AI when they are in close quarters!! That really caught me by surprise when it happened the first time! I loved it! Well, I still do. lol

Im kinda glad to hear this too, it really is a great game... not even because of visuals and stuff.. its FUN and captivating! Thats what really makes it so great.
I didn't expect it either! I was convinced that I was going to finish this game just so that my money wasn't a total waste, and that I was going to shelve the game forever afterward! However, it's true: it's very fun and very captivating!

I can even laugh at myself because when I die, I rage very hard because it means that I have to restart Crysis 2 itself before playing again because I always lose my ability to Melee. I mean, those moments always present the perfect reason to quit playing and shelve it forever, but yet I keep going!

Everything takes time, glad you like it so far. I believe patch 1.2 which will be released soon will fix MP and SP bugs, so, it's only a couple of days away I agree, it's an awesome game and the suit integration is nice. Some textures could be better but overall it surpasses Crysis graphics.

@Bolded Those are awesome changes that I liked. Armor mode while depletes energy actually takes much more hits than it did in Crysis. While I didn't mind using the mouse wheel for changing modes, I could never do it fast enough, etc... but with the new hotkeys, I'm able to switch on the fly and I'm able to combine three modes at once now instead of the usual one only, possibly two max in Crysis. Nanovision also makes for interesting scenarios and headshots are a lot nicer for some reason

rofl
I have to admit that I was a bit scared to use Armor Mode at first because I assumed that just a couple of bullets would deplete my energy too quickly, but I was pleasantly surprised by how long it lasts - especially with the Armor Enhance suit module.

I have nothing better to do, so I have reached a point in the first Crysis where I can switch suit modes using middle-click without thinking about it. I mean when I watch the way it looks on my monitor when I'm switching suit modes (in the first Crysis), it looks like I'm switching suit modes with a single keypress. I can even do that when changing my weapon's configuration and attachments: it's all second-nature for me and I think I do it all just as fast and as well as OCN's very own Gunsmith (Nanosuitninja). Although, this is because I have nothing better to do with my time.

In other words, even though it's second-nature to me, I am still excited about no longer needing it. I think one reason why I'm excited about it is because I used to use the '4' key on the top row for changing suit modes: pressed once, I got Maximum Armor. Pressed twice, I got Maximum Speed. Pressed three times, I got Maximum Strength. Pressed four times, I got Cloak Mode. So, I kinda used whichever was faster during each situation (especially if I was using my right hand to drink something or to scratch my face or something). So it's nice to be able to switch with a single keypress. I'm even considering remapping middle-click to something more useful.

Of course, I also love being able to use Maximum Strength while cloaked (which I think they're calling Power Mode now) for many things, including sprinting and steadying my weapon for precision aiming and of course powerful melees. hehe I've kinda always wanted to be able to use more than one mode at a time in the first Crysis, especially the ability to use Maximum Strength while cloaked!

And finally, Nano Vision. I just....... wow. I'm speechless with this one. I used to like Night Vision, but Nano Vision absolutely crushes it for me.

hehehe I love being sneaky too. I sometimes feel like I'm The Predator. Of course, I felt more like The Predator in the first Crysis, but still...

But yeah: being able to remove those guns and take them with me is hilarious and awesome all at once.

Oh, and getting back to the graphics, here's a way to improve the graphics just a little bit more:

Crysis 2 Advanced Graphics Options Application Version 1.6

There are only two bugs I noticed with it: when I enable Mouse Smoothing, it never takes. I mean, I still have to manually edit Autoexec.cfg to say "i_mouse_smooth=1". The same is true if I disable Mouse Acceleration: I still have to edit Autoexec.cfg manually to say "i_mouse_accel=0". Other than that, it works nicely!

I think I need more gaming experience because I don't know what's wrong with the AI yet. Can you show me an example? I might have noticed it already, but perhaps I don't have enough gaming experience yet to understand how bad it is.

Yes, I'm serious. Why would I take all that time to make a post that big if I were being sarcastic? No, that's the wrong question; why would anyone do that? Microsoft Word says that I typed 4,730 characters (with spaces), and that I typed 920 words. Who in their right mind would waste 4,730 keystrokes typing 920 words in one post just to be sarcastic?

So again: yes, I am serious. Heh.

I honestly believe that I couldn't be any clearer in my original post that I am being serious.

While I was hating the depletion idea, I think it's only fair that you can take more shots since you are getting depleted. I haven't been getting modules, just collecting nanopoints(or whatever they are called), no clue how much I have atm

I have nothing better to do, so I have reached a point in the first Crysis where I can switch suit modes using middle-click without thinking about it. Sweet, I could see myself doing that with hotkeys but it would take a lot of time to get it done with a mousewheel. Nice

Yes, fully agree, very nice that you can just press Q for armor or E for stealth. Nice that strength and speed are incorporated, makes the game flow a lot better and nicer to play. Don't need to play a lot to be able to switch between modes like Crysis

Night vision was pretty cool, but, Nanovision blows it out the window. Given make sure that you don't see something red and starting shooting at it only to discover it was some fire or something XD

Have to agree with crimson, I was in a vehicle and the CELL were shooting at it. It went up in flames and I left it because I didn't want to get killed

Love this thread. Haven't bought Crysis 2 yet, but this thread is definitely pushing me towards it! As for this little tool you found, I visited the developers blog and it seems he's updated it to version 1.7, so maybe those bugs you mentioned are fixed? I have no way to tell, but here's a link in case you're interesting in checking it out!

As long as you go into Crysis 2 with an open mind and decide that you want to play it the way it was meant to be played, you'll be fine. Those who hate the game wanted Crysis with better graphics which Crysis 2 wasn't(had better graphics, but, lower resolution and different gameplay) so they were disappointed, same with the whole DX11 issue. It's really an awesome game and the scenes are breathtaking especially considering this is DX9
