oh yea and the larger alien, the one that give 500 catalysts, can take a frikin' c4 and a grenade for it to die. gosh man.
The secret to killing the Cephs without needing to empty an entire clip (not "chip") is to shoot at their exposed parts because after all, they're just weak jelly-like aliens inside of armored suits (they're soldiers). Or, shoot off their armor plates and then shoot the part that gets exposed. Additionally, try to always do the following before shooting:
- Start looking through the weapon's sights (right-click, of course)
- Hold down Shift to turn on Power Mode in order to steady the weapon (crouching increases the steadiness just as much as Prone used to)
- Fire in short bursts and keep all shots to one location on their body if possible. For some reason, I've been lucky in that I just shoot at their mid-section (what would be the human stomach). I mean, I haven't gotten in the habit of trying to aim for their exposed parts or to make attempts at shooting their armor off.
Firing in short bursts increases accuracy. Although, it's slightly less necessary to fire in short bursts when using Power Mode while shooting.
Or if you're patient enough, then you can take out every single Ceph without firing a single shot by always performing stealth kills, or by performing Power Melees. I confess that I rarely shoot the Ceph. Instead, I normally run around in cloak mode sneaking up on every Ceph and I either perform a stealth kill of some kind, or I just Power Melee the bastards.
It's very satisfying. hehehe
As for the Devastor Ceph (the big fat dude), I've been doing this lately: I sneak up behind him, quickly jump out of cloak mode, toss two C4 packs at his feet, jump back into cloak mode, get to a safe distance, get his attention on purpose, wait for him to turn around, wait for him to be fully alert, and then I blow him up. It's hilarious. He's just so slow and stupid!
Although, I don't use C4 for anything else, so I have no problem using two C4 packs on one kill. I tried using one pack, but he just goes "lol". :/Edited by TwoCables - 4/4/11 at 1:11pm
