All this Crysis 2 hate because it doesn't have DX11. The game still looks really freakin' good and it doesn't take an i7 990x/quad 580SLI in order to run it at a solid 60FPS with 4xAA on High Settings.
I was thinking the same thing today; here I am playing this beautiful game, and yet it's liquid-smooth on my system while the first Crysis is always kinda stuttering non-stop (well, it's just 15-25 FPS, but still). Plus, all player movements are very fluid for me whereas they're not quite so fluid in the first Crysis. This difference is especially obvious when I'm in a small rooms or corridors: with Crysis 1, the player movements inside such places are almost jerky or something even though the framerate goes way up. In Crysis 2, the fluidity stays strong and doesn't change!

Looking at the OP, your reasons for hating the game were minor issues.
I wouldn't classify it as hate, they were annoyances. So it was easy for you to get over it.

I dislike the game for what it has become as a whole.

Blasphemy

(I kid, it's April 1 here already)

Game isn't bad, but I don't see it as a real sequel to the original game.

I dunno, I think loosing nanocatalysts, having to restart the game upon dying, changing the gameplay when you've put a ton of hours into C1, etc.... are quite big issues. Good for you twocables!

I feel fortunate that I somehow kept going and ended up giving it a chance because now I absolutely love this game!

Now that I've finished this game, I can see that it's not a sequel; instead, it's more or less Prophet's story. I mean, we had both Nomad's and Psycho's stories, and so now it's time for Prophet's. Of course, it would have been nice to start where the first one left off! heh So, it would have been nice to be Nomad going back in to get Prophet!

Meh. I don't mind because I needed a new game.

Well, I've gotten over the major differences between the games. I mean, it's kinda like what happened to me when I switched from Windows XP to Windows 7: at first, many of the changes didn't make sense to me. However, the more and more I used it, the easier it was for me to understand why they made the changes that they made.

So for me it's the same with Crysis 2; at first I was pissed about what they did to this and also that they had the nerve to use the name "Crysis". However, I understand why it is the way it is now that I've finished the entire game and especially now that I've started a new one using the same profile! I got to keep all of my unlocked Suit Modules! tehehe

Nice with the suit modules, wonder if you'll be able to live enough to collect catalysts for that cloak module you were talking about

After more playing, I think that the single players are even between Crysis 1 and 2. Crysis 2 is more linear, but it is also much more focused and has a plan. Everything is cinematic, just the way I like my PC games. Crysis 1 let you do what you want, and gave you a vast expanse of land to tackle your objectives. This was also fun because you could avoid certain paths, stumble into others, and the replay value was immense.

It just depends what type of gamer you are. For me I enjoy both. Crysis 2 guarantees fun and excitement, in Crysis 1 you need to make it yourself.

ouch, good luck with that If you plan to get that from blank, you'll need to kill 160 aliens assuming each alien gives you 100 catalyst points

Yep, the game is sequel tied together by the story and nanosuit but different in graphical style and gameplay
