Thread Starter
I just ordered one of these

http://cgi.ebay.com/Audinst-HUD-mx1-...ht_6368wt_1139

Anyone have any experience with it?

Perhaps I'll write my impressions of it when I get it

For my headphones, I have:

AKG K701
Audio Technica ESW9
Ultimate Ears Superfi 5vi

From what I've read around the internet, it seems like a really nice unit for the price. Although, I only got it because of the groupon deal for ebay. I was able to get a discount for it

I'll see what I can do with a review. I'm not really experienced with reviewing audio equipment, especially source equipment

I hope it's as good as you say

what kind of headphones do you use with it?

also, I'm impressed by how fast they ship stuff out on their ebay page. They shipped mine in about 6 hours, and it's already in Chicago as of today :O

yeah, audinst is a rather new Korean company (2009 or so), only concern I have about audinst is they only have one product.... but for the price, the HUD-MX1 is normally described as "extremely entry point," meaning it's good enough to be considered an audiophille product I ultimately went for the NFB-12, however, since I could find one at a US retailer, PacificValve (also since the HUD-MX1 lacks an optical input - I have no remaining USB ports on my computer ).

I just use some old JVC's, not a huge Audiophile, been meaning to get some good cans. Main reason I got it was that it was the easiest way to have my Speakers/Sub working with my PC, as I needed something in between the PC and Amp. It's great that you can switch between Headphones and External output at the flick of a switch.

Either way, it's much better than onboard sound. I can tell that even with my JVC's.

I ordered mine and it took less than 2 weeks to get here, which was quite impressive really. Guy who runs it has good English too!

Nowhere near Audio-GD league my friend.

Audinst MX-1 is a nice DAC/AMP for 180 (or less if you had a coupon), but the sound is far from perfect.

You'll likely be happy with it, but your AKG's will still be crying for more.
