All 4 stock phenomII fans i have here are all foxconn fans and are 70mm,if your in the uk,i can post you for free 2 of the unused ones.
Ah. Well, a 70mm fan looks the same as any other 70mm fan, for the most part. I saw that CM sold a CPU heatsink + Fan, the one I described above, that looks identical. Maybe AMD is buying the CM heatsink with a foxconn fan, or maybe its just an AMD setup and CM's just looks the same.
No I don't really need any, thanks for the offer - they need to be non-PWM and I live in the US, a much cooler place and awesome place
(jk, kinda. Its cooler cuz I live here
). The issue is basically I have 2 PWM fans and only 1 CPU header, and the PWM fans are both different types of PWM, apparently (both with yellow/grnd but one with blue/green and one with blue/red). I can control the blue/green with a 2 pin fan controller for now, but ultimately it's too loud because it buzzes because its supposed to be PWM powered, and I need to get it rid of it. This post was me inquiring to the possibility of controlling the 120mm blue/green correctly on the CPU header so it won't buzz anymore (and I'd make it less loud by lowering the speed) and then replacing my PWM spot cooling CPU fan which takes up the CPU header and can't be forced/modded to use 2pin, which I've now learned is 70mm, so I could do that, but ultimately I think I'm going to buy a 120mm to replace that fan, instead of replacing the 70mm fan, since it's actually cheaper that way (70mm fans just happen to be a dollar more than the very cheap YL).
I know many may try to say "well you could replace this with that and do that with this" but there's a lot of variables I probably left out, and believe me I've done all the math and thinking on this. The only solution, given noise and cooling and my unwillingness to simply use 1 less fan (even though I don't need 7 fans lol), is to either replace my 70mm PWM fan with a non-PWM 70mm fan or replace my 120mm PWM fan with a non-PWM 120mm fan. When PTS has them in stock in 3 weeks, I'm going to buy another YL Medium and replace it.
It's good to know that this fan is 70mm though, because it also looks like it could fit somewhere else where I may want to cool in the future. My VRM seems to be just fine though, after I've sawed up my old heatsink to a strip and stuck it onto my 3+1 for my +200/500 mhz CPU/NB overclock +.18v unlocked x3 to x4. Yes, I'm aware of the whole VRM situation, that's why I did that.
Now, see all I had to type out. I got the answer already, but instead of explaining the situation, I just tried to be very clear I just wanted the answer to what the fan size is. I know what I'm doing here (no I'm not pro, the situation here is just simple).
The OP needs to chill, ranting at people trying to be helpful is unproductive and will only make people less inclined to help when you have a serious issue.
Rage is my middle name. I explained it was a pet peeve though.Edited by Belial - 3/30/11 at 1:16am
