Tv ps3 speaker question

Thread Starter
I have the Logitech 5500 speakers hooked up to my ps3 using a optical cable. My tv also has optical input but when I plug my speakers into my tv, the sound only from my tv and not my ps3.

What would be the easiest way to get the speakers to work with the tv and the ps3 at the same time?

The optical out from the tv should be an audio pass-through from the HDMI input it has. There is no reason it should work even for the ps3. Connect the toslink from the tv to the z5500's. And run hdmi from the ps3 to tv. Have the ps3 output audio over hdmi.

What brand/model is your TV?

Most TVs will have an audio passthrough jack. If you connect the speakers to this jack the TV will be able to directly output to it and the HDMI cable will carry your PS3's audio through to it.

Alternatively if you have both optical out and optical in you could connect the PS3 to optical in, the speakers to optical out and configure the TV to use optical in for the PS3's audio and directly output for TV audio.

This isn't working for me. I'm only getting the speakers when watching tv. The ps3 is using only the speakers on the tv, not the z5500.

I only have one optical out on my tv and no in. Is that my problem? Is there a adapter I can buy for this?
