Athlon II x4 640 + TA870U3+ - $157
Team Xtreem 2x2GB 1600Mhz memory - $45
Hitachi 1TB HDD - $50 shipped after promo
- $73 shipped, $63 AR [Amazon]
Xigmatek Asgard II - $30 shipped after promo
Antec EA500D - $50 shipped after promo
Sony 24X DVD - $20 shipped after promo
Samsung 1080p monitor - $125 shipped after promo

Total: $550 shipped
This okay with you? For a smallish price premium you now get a 1080p monitor, x4 CPU, and 5670. Or otherwise you could downgrade back to the x2 255 + 870U3+ which'll reduce the total build cost by $40. If you can afford an extra $10 also, I do recommend the HEC Blitz for better cable management options.

If you have a new Newegg account, then you can get $25 off $100!

i just built the wife a rig with the new Asus AMD Zacate (Fusion) board

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-697-_-Product

and for a budget build i would strongly think about it. at 145.00 its a contender. I am very happy with it too. and it games fine although not a monster it does fine and uses very little power doing so so its ECO friendly.

Thanks I'll do some research on that. For what he uses it for it might be just the thing.
