Could someone please help me? 965 BE question

Thread Starter
Hello, I had a 4 core 965 black edition and a M4A89GTD PRO usb 3 mother board. I build this PC myself and I have some issues with my setting. I foolishly installed the built-in EVO overclocking tool that came with the MOBO and I think it screwed everything up.

Here's my situation:

I ran the tool, it OC'd fine and displayed a 3600hz cpu speed after a reboot. I read online and pretty much everyone was against the use of that tool; they said the OC should be performed manually instead. I hit the "default settings" button in the EVO utility but I noticed the default values were actually the values that had been set before the last save. The voltages hadn't changed and I knew the core speed was set at 200mhz before the changes, so I set everything back to default easily and uninstalled the program.

I went to the bios and the overclocking/cpu part of the CPU configuration was ALL set to "Auto" (I'm talking about all the frequencies and voltages section of the BIOS, not sure about the exact name).

I know the bus speed should be set to 200mhz and the default multiplier should be 17X. Is that right? I also know the default PCI-E speed should be 150hz. These are the only 3 settings that aren't set to Auto now.

What should CPU/mb frequency be set to?? It's currently at "auto" and I don't know the default value.
What should HT-speed be set to? It's also at "auto".

As for the voltages, they're ALL set to automatic and there's like 10 different settings. Is there a way to find the default voltages? Is it fine if I leave everything to auto in that section?? I noticed some of them have a "recommended" range of values, while other settings have a "standard" value listed, which I'm going to assume is the default value. However, most of the settings don't list any information.

And last question/problem. Why is my displayed core speed 800Mhz, and multiplier 4X according to cpu-z? Is something defective? The multiplier IS set to 17X in the bios.I uploaded a picture I took of the cpu-z windows. I have windows XP service pack 3, I'll get Windows 7 shortly. The last image is from the system tools information windows, it lists my cpu speed in the 700's. I know for a fact it was 3400mhz before the EVO utility fiasco. ***??

Thanks in advance for the help, as you can see I'm overwhelmed by all of this and I don't know what to do.. I hope it isn't too late to fix this.

For the 4x multiplier issue you mean? I'll try that, thanks! I'd still like to know about the 2 default frequencies I'm missing and all the voltages though, I've read horror stories about random hardware failure due to settings being set to auto. Hell, the core voltage is 0.9V in my screenshot, something's wrong there no?

Alright I disabled cool & quiet in the BIOS, my PC correctly displays 3.4Ghz cores now, thanks again!

I just noticed something else from my screencap. It says my max PCI-E speed is 16X but I'm currently at 8X, is this something that can be fixed? Does my video card run slower at 8X? I had a GeForce 560 ti.

Yep I'm aware of the ram limitation on Windows XP 32 bits! What about all the voltages, HT speed and cpu/mb frequency though? Should I leave them at auto in the bios?

One last retarded question, sorry. If I OC my cpu bus speed I noticed it changes my DRAM speed also. I had set the DRAM to 1333 because I have 1333 DRAM. If I set the bus speed to 210hz the 1333DRAM becomes 1400 or so. Is that normal?? What should I set the DRAM to?
