DICE’s General Manager, Karl Magnus Troedsson has described the upcoming Battlefield 3 as a “real sequel to Battlefield 2.â€

Speaking to game.on.net, Troedsson also discussed the series tonal shift, and how the developer has taken on more community feedback this time around.

I've never been this excited about a game.

Old. News about Battlefield 3 has been around for a while now. The in game and video clips looked impressive though. They have so much detail and a lot of things look real.

If they are listening to the community, as they say they are, there's no stopping this game. The question is how many things, we want to see in game, will they manage to implement...

If they can pull off 256 player games without lag, it will be off the chart.

They said they wouldn't support it(Because of lag pherhaps?), but you would be able to make your own dedicated servers and run 256 players.

Or am I completely off here?

They could if they wanted to actually. 9-10 years ago, when Battlefield 1942 was in development, They were actually going to give support for 128 Client servers, But I think the code for the 128 man support was destroyed or cancelled. Thats why the maps in 1942 were big (well alot of them) like Wake Island, Gazala, El Alamein, Battle For Anzio, Hellendoorn etc. However I still have faith in the Battlefield series, and I hope DICE can make a actual difference with the old tradition of Battlefield. I just pray that it doesn't turn out like the new Need For Speed games or Crysis 2........................
