Aiming to get my 980x to 4.0GHz + - Page 8

As for the waterblock, i might invest in a new one as i'm not confident with the apogee xt from my 1st one that pinged off due to not screwing into the back plate very well. So it might be that it's not on tightly enough or even flush across the cpu.

Might look into the EK Supreme HF

You might try tossing it a little more PLL and IOH voltage. You realize that by running your BCLK at 200MHz you're forcing your QPI to 7.2GT/s. That's a lot of strain on the IMC, especially considering the 980x's poor performing controller. What kind of temps are you looking at when you run these stress tests? Either way, I still highly recommend LinX. It's the heaviest hitting stress test and is only dangerous to poorly-cooled chips.

Edit: You should check out the Heatkiller Rev. 3, it's a monster!

Temps are topping at 72º but usually hang around 66-69.

Just been reading about the Apogee XT and apparently a few people have mounting problems with the pins stripping.

What's the Heatkiller Rev. 3 like for mounting?

Pretty straightfoward; backplate and screw posts. Two things to watch out for that totally got me. For one, the Heatkiller is copper and anytime I sprung a leak it mixed with the nickel from my GPU blocks and corroded components. Second, as I was inserting the screw posts, I tightened them too much and one dug into the third RAM channel's traces. Needless to say, it took several days of draining, remounting, and pure frustration to find the source of the problem. Neoprene washers are a must!

Make sure your QPI link speed is set to x36 I'm pretty sure auto setting has probably sorted it out for you though. Easier to post CPU-Z screenshot.

I think you just need more QPI/VTT voltage set it to 1.35 that should be enough to stabliize and it's also intel max 'Safe' value. If it does stabilize just back off until it becomes unstable again.

Please listen to what YerMother is saying QPI/VTT is what's hold you back you need 1.35. Listening to mymlan will keep you here asking questions all day! Mymlan can you please post a scree shot of your so called running LinX all day? How many passes would that be? 200-300? This I would love to see.
