I just saw your Youtube videos, very helpful. I'll try that. Thanks!

EDIT: This is going to look stupid, but I found out that my MB is an 8+1 phase board. So does the 1.47V limit still apply? Or what is the new upper limit?

Here's a question + a shameless bump.

So I've got it to be stable at 1.3375V and 240x16.0 = 3840MHz
But it seems that the startup and some minor things feel slower. So maybe it's time I overclocked my RAM/NB as that could be the thing that's causing the bottleneck now.

What is the maximum ram voltage that I could use for my 8+1 phase board? And what's the max NB voltage too? How do I check for stability of the NB? Do I run OCCT or Prime95 as well?

I've reset my OC method and just focused on the multiplier for now. I'm sitting at:

200 x 19.0 = 3.8 GHz
CPUv = 1.3875v
CPU/NB = 2400 MHz
1333 MHz RAM
Secure Virtual Machine = Off
Cool 'n' Quiet = On
Everything else is Auto

And it would reset after around 6 hours (estimated) of Prime95. It's certainly not temperature because it's around 50deg in the day, and the ambient temperature is colder at night. I've already increased the voltages 4 times at this multiplier.

Before I left the house just now I boosted the voltages to 1.4v and it's Prime95ing now. Any other advice you can give?

I think your cpu voltage is a bit low. 1.4v may work better. If not try 1.41, 1.42, 1.43 etc. You should be stable very soon if your OC just 3.8 GHZ with a 955.

I would suggest turning off Cool N Quiet and manually set your fan speed to your needs. 3.8ghz on 1.3875v is pretty good. It should be more stable with your 1.4v. I currently have mine at 3.8ghz with 1.4375v.

Of course I'd want to push it even higher, as long as I stay below 55degC for the CPU temp.

Should I do anything to my CPU/NB frequencies? Also, my motherboard doesn't have LLC, so CPUz shows the 1.4v CPU voltage as around 1.35v. Should I trust CPUz or the BIOS for the cpu voltage?

I would trust bios. You can try bumping your CPU/NB to 2600mhz.

krnb0iek, I'd prefer to keep Cool N Quiet on, though on second thought, I think it's moot point, since I have it running Folding all the time.

And I think only 3 of my fans can be controlled through the motherboard. The rest are connected directly to the PSU. (Time to get a fan controller?)

Would I need to increase the CPU/NB voltage? Currently it's set to Auto.

EDIT: I've come home to see, to my wonderful happiness, that 12 hours of prime 95 passed without incident. Thus 1.4v @ 3.8GHz is stable, I'd take it. Though the max temp reached 35deg above ambient at 55 degrees. I know the maximum is 62 for this CPU, should I continue to try 3.9GHz? Or is 55 a soft upper limit?
