My computer freezes with "sound loop" only when idle - Page 2

Thread Starter
I turned off all features I do not use currently (SATA 6G controllers, USB 3.0 controllers, Intel LAN, Bluetooth radio, etc.) in BIOS and reverted to my Prime95/IBT stable 4.5GHz overclock; I left all power saving functions EIST, C states turned on or at Auto settings.
Also reinstalled windows, without installing any drivers besides latest Realtek audio drivers and AMD 11.4 preview 23th march. So far it looks stable. I'll let it run for a while and if it is indeed stable I'll have lengthy process ahead of me of figuring out what is cause of this problem.

Any guesses? Personally I suspect USB3.0 controller driver or Intel Chipset drivers.

I found my asus board needed 1 or 2 more ticks of voltage to be idle stable after getting it load stable.

I remember something about Atheros and system freeze.

You should google Atheros + system freezes / hangs ....

What voltage do you have in mind? Currently I have set my VCORE to offset +0.050v with LLC High, DRAM voltage to 1.65v and PLL voltage to 1.65v. Everything else I left on Auto.

thanks, I'll start with enabling Bluetooth first, after I verify that current setting is stable for a few days.

Try +0.055 to +0.065.

Maybe it's related to the issue, but by disabling Renesas USB 3.0 Controller controller in BIOS significantly reduced the time it required to pass POST. Before it required about 15 seconds on first ASUS screen before I could enter BIOS and Keyboard LEDs blinked... After I turned off USB3 controller it takes a mere second or two before I can enter BIOS.

Could as well be the RAM, check this out http://www.overclock.net/intel-gener...-problems.html

So it looks like it was caused by Intel Chipset Driver. I reinstalled Windows several times trying different things (different driver versions etc.). It turns out leaving all drivers that Microsoft has supplied, except Realtek audio driver and ATI video driver solved this issue. So far 7 days stable, before it would crash within few hours...

It's strange though, friend of mine built computer using exactly same parts as me (same brands, same models) except his 6870 is from different vendor and he has Corsair AX750 PSU and I have HX650. Nevertheless I guess some issues can't or won't be explained...
