I'll watercool for 1000Mhz and nothing else.

Not going to happen ...

EVGA doesn't allow you to set up to special version neither ... so ... bad luck ... if you want it ... you pay for it !

this isn't a normal circumstance. they want cherry picked cores. we have them. i'm not saying they have to do it, but if they did then I would be grateful and understand. it would be more like sending your card in for an upgrade instead of asking for a new product.

not saying the upgrade should be free either. just not normal price of a new card.

all speculation though. i haven't heard of any nonreference gtx590s in the works

That's understandable, considering the cost of a waterblock.

mmm, We need a non ref 590. 570 HAS same problem, although less acute it would seem. Same culprit.
When I pulled the trigger on a 570 I made sure to research it was non reference. More "VRMS" ? If that is what they are called.

But with this product now out in the wild, Nvidia need to fire some people. Mabye they should merge with Crytek for more "MAXIMUM FAIL"

If they had the card perfect, it is still so so vs a 6990. But this included is real bad. Hopefully people who already have a card won't have this misfortune. But I can say 100% I would not take one of these cards for free.
Could actually cost money if damages other components.

DAMN nvidia recall those deadly 590s..those r death traps nd still people r buying those..EPIC MEGA FAIL.....6990 is lying around without any troubles,OCs like beast
bios update will do nothing!! it will make it more handicapped...rather they would recall these **** cards and revise it throughly bring out a new stepping XX version like what intel did with their faulty SB chipsets and put some quality VRMs like 6990 nd revise all those power value faults,we don't care about the F***ing length of the card!!what will we do with a good looking card without good performance?! LICK IT??

Personally I pray that the voltage in the cards was not being displayed correctly. That would be an easy out, though I doubt it.

For example if Benchers were thinking they were at 1.2 Volts and the setting applied an actual 1.6 Volts etc...effectively nuking the VRM's under load.

Also many people here are digitally inclined a little and misunderstand core electronics. WaterCooling your Card by a Water block that tradditionally only touch the GPU(s), and Memory chips does nothing for the Power Delivery system (VRM's). So the GPU by being cooled attempt to pull more power through the uncooled VRM's taking them beyond their limitations (uncooled).

So do we need VRM coolers now? /sarcasm...

they need to make a GTX 595 it it being a foot long to get 8+2 quality VRMs on it...

wait, does the 6990 has 8+2?

You should have gone with the ASUS DirectCU II card. They don't even have the stupid silly power limiter, so they will overclock much better with voltage and you can stress them properly and they are made of quality stuff.

I am so pissed off at nVidia right now I could scream!

I can see what they're thinking..

"Haha, those fools! They thought they were getting GTX 580 SLi for cheap.. think again!"

Without overclocking, GTX 480 SLi is actually more powerful.

Did you actully move from 480 SLI?.. 480s could easily do 580 clocks and beyond. That would be a bad move.
