That has been confirmed to be false already by techreport.

If the card cant handle 1.05v or even 1v then its will not OC pass 700Mhz. That alone is no good since having such amazing core capable of 900Mhz+ with proper VRMs is a letdown. GTX590 would have been a monster if it did 900Mhz in air.

Which begs the question. Why did I pay $700 for this card. And why should I not return it.

I've told you this about 2 or 3 times before.

You cannot fix hardware issues with software.

Some burnt up, I'm fairly sure.

It's why I just kept on my 9600GT until the HD4890 came out.

First off, the 590 did not explode, it shorted out.

Secondly, the 590 was OCed on a beta driver that didnt have proper support for the 590.

If I had a 590, I would have the common sense not to overclock it until it had official driver support. The person that made the video of his GPU shorting out ... didnt.

Nvidia is not to blame for someone elses stupidity.
1) It had a VRM failure due to overheating, what would the one in the video short out on, exactly?
2) And? The driver won't fix anything, just delay it at best.

The only way nVidia will repair the reputation they lost here in my eyes if they replace every single GTX 590 sold with a GTX 595 that has a far more beefy VRM section with GTX 580 clocks.

I have to wonder how they fixed a hardware issue with software...I bet it's postponed, at most.

No, The cooling appears decent because the card throttles back so the cards never running at full heat out put because OCP steps in before that happens.

It is true that companies only want money, but in order to acquire voluntary funding they must satisfy the demands of the consumer. In order to convince you to voluntarily give them your money companies must, at least to the furthest extent possible given the current market, care about consumers demands.

How the hell is wanting money evil? I assume that is what you meant.

On topic: I can't wait to see a non ref version of the 590.

When one places the thickness of his wallet at a higher priority than his business' moral responsibility.

You couldn't be more wrong.

Companies couldn't care any less about consumer needs.

They either lie to you or make you think you need what they're selling.

Make no mistake - they will do ANYTHING in their (legal) power to make a sell.

Caring what you want simply has no role in it whatsoever.
