I suggest you have a scan at this thread. Since the nvidia GTX 4xx series, people have had mega stutter issues in almost every game. Am not saying everyone has this issue, but a lot do!

http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/788307-fermi-issues-low-gpu-usage-bad.html

That's why i moved back to AMD. Sick of the stuttering with nvidia cards! I owned 4 GTX 470's and they all stutter no matter what!

You could try new drivers from Nvidia and get a min of 4GB DDr3 memory. If that did not work, try a reformat and install all chipset drivers, GPU drivers, DX11, a game, fully patched ect and test. If you still see issues, check your CPU is stable, check CPU/GPU temps and try using a newer SATA2 hDD. What res do you play at? Sometimes a low res can cause stuttering because the CPU takes priority. I've expereinced a big case of this in my time. If all else fails, i would say your a victim of the "stuttering" nvidia clan and i would then suggest getting a AMD 6950. The ref 6950's can unock via bios flash to speeds of a 6970 and it saved you £80!

oh just remembered you can also try updating motherboard bios and make sure you have latest INF files installed. Go to your Mobo manufactor website for details on all chipset drivers, INF, audio, bios updates ect and good luck.

Btw, what speed is your CPU at. Possible bottleneck there as well as the old old RAM.
