Wait for bulldozer, don't upgrade yet. They come out in June!

If you are able to sell the 555 for $40-50 bucks and then buy the 955 used at $100ish, that would be a GREAT upgrade that wouldn't require you to upgrade anything else.
if you can find a used 955 for cheap on here, i'd go for it. and by cheap, i mean like ~$50 or less cheap. you will notice a difference in gaming for sure. i went from a 555 be to a 925 x4 in my lanbox, and the difference in bc2 performance was much improved. faster load times, and no chop whatsoever during matches.

otherwise, i would go for a sb setup, or wait for bd.

I upgraded from a 555 to a 955 and I don't regret it one bit and there was a performance increase in games coming from a 555 and using a 955.

Before you go spending money - have you tried unlocking your chip?

You may get a tri or quad core! of course you will likely not get the 4.1Ghz if you do unlock it but its worth a try before you buy!

not worth it, your money would be better spent on graphic card upgrade
upgrading your cpu will give you only few fps increase if that much
you would see most increase in crysis and crysis warhead when you turn up physics, metro 2033, battlefield bad company2 (but that will still be only 1-2 more frames per second)
and in strategy games with lots of units like total war series or starcraft2 (here you might see increase in minimum fps when in large battles)

but still you have 5770 and that is your "bottleneck" whe you want to turn up details or getting higher fps with same details

Then i should wait for bulldrozer quad core . My 5770 still can handle resoultion 1440x900.. in many games .I'm happy with my 5770 right now.I will wait for new generation graphic card for upgrade.
