Keyboard Insanity

Ok so I decided to put this rant on OCN for two reasons.
1. Because I feel like my brains are going to explode
2. Because there may be others in my situation who can benefit from this info

Let me start at the beginning.....
Now I've been into computers for some time now and have had a lot of hardware over the years since 1989. Around 1999 I bought a Logitech internet keyboard which has a membrane inside but the posts that push down are little poles that the keycaps sit on like a mechanical. This keyboard has been great right up to now and even after cleaning I’m finding that it’s been used to death almost and some keys need to be jabbed harder to register. I’m not upset that this keyboard needs replacing. I paid £30 for it at the time and it has worked faithfully ever since.
So anyways about a month ago I decided id replace my keyboard and my mouse too (an aging intellimouse explorer 3.0 that still works expect the left button sticks sometimes and incidentally bought in the same shop the same day as the keyboard). Having recently updated my tower case and outfitted with lots of nice blue LED's I decided to treat myself and opt for a razor lycosa and razor deathadder so that they would match. So far the deathadder works but somehow feels less accurate than the intellimouse I had but anyhow I’m kind of used to it and I’m ok as it at least works to a fashion. The lycosa on the other hand had a totally non functioning touchpad and scratches all over the surface. It was clearly second hand and faulty.

Now id bought from overclockers.co.uk who assured me it was new but issued me a refund anyway. Id also received another second hand item as new and had many other examples of poor service including rude mocking insults from them about other items id paid for that were unsatisfactory while simply phoning up to ask for a brand new replacement.
Anyways this isn’t a rant about ocuk although I’m never going to buy from them again. So I figure perhaps id best buy elsewhere and I order another lycosa from amazon.co.uk. The lycosa arrives and yay the touchpad works excellent. All appears good until I’m in an online match and realize that some keys are not responding.
So after googling and reinstalling etc it turns out to be the famous "fix only by unplugging and replugging usb random keys not working bug". Such a shame as this keyboard apart from the annoying bug actually felt great to use. So it goes back in the box and I got a refund from amazon.
Next I think well maybe I can't trust razor now, I know I’ll try logitech. So after much googling I come to the realization that the g19 would be best and would not only make me feel better about the lycosa woes but work all nice and good as it’s the most expensive model they do. So anyways it arrives and I plug it in... then I notice how stiff the keys are, I notice how the page up key has got injection molding flashing making the key stay depressed, I notice that the LCD has got 4 glowing red stuck pixels too. When I tried to type on the keyboard I noticed that letters were being missed and sometimes the keys would not press down. After some careful playing I find that unless you hit the keys exactly dead center they stick don’t move and don’t register. Again comparing to my old logitech I bought in 1999 it feels horrible. Even the keys on the g19 that do feel like they move right the level of force required is higher and feels clunky. I think logitech have taken a quality dive for the worse as even the volume control seems to scrape as you dial it up and down. In fact the only keys that feel uninhibited are the g keys to the left which is no good when typing stuff out.

So here I am now sitting typing on my g19 and getting ready to fill out another amazons returns label and wondering what options I have. I want an illuminated keyboard that is blue and/or green but preferably even both and more. It needs to have nice light keys so I can type and game on it. Just typing this out on my g19 is giving me serious hand ache from jabbing the keys extra hard. After doing reading it would appear that cherry brown or black switches would be best but I can’t find anything that fits the bill. I found a nice keyboard the xarmor U9BL-S but it is not available in uk and if I order from usa it will have a us layout which is not what I’m used to and will be expensive. If anyone has a uk version for sale id gladly buy it off them except the U9BL which has the cherry blues not browns. I’ve looked at the deck legend but I don’t like the look of it and also it does not have any media keys which are useful to me. People have suggested the razor black widow ultimate but again its dodgy razor and it uses noisy and slow to double tap cherry blue switches.

Bah, I'm really having issues understanding why this should be such a chore. It’s like everything just took a dive quality wise the last 10 years. To think if my lycosa had just worked in the first place id not even be typing all this out. So anyways what do you think? Should I get a replacement g19 and see if this is a randomly bad one or are all g19's like this and should I just refund it and get something else? If something else then what? Bearing in mind the requirements:

LED illumination blue and/or green + (more but more not essential)
Mechanical keys cherry brown / black
Media shortcut keys play stop skip volume
UK layout
Dark/black/grey/blue plastic/metal body NOT white or other light or bright colours like red
Reliable

Quality has taken a vacation indefinitely, but any mechanical keyboard 100+ will grant you satisfaction.

DECK Has LED Back lit.

I do have to say though as far as the quality issue is concerned...Where have you been?

The world is outsourced and nothing is made with the customer in mind anymore.
