Worth the price difference for 1333 and 1600 G skill RAM?

Thread Starter
I found this G-skill ram kit with low timing for a decent price 2x2G, they have 1333 and 1600. Is it worth the extra 12$ going with the 1600?

I obviously plan to over clock, once the system is setup and confimed to be fully functionnal... I'm not sure however if the 1600 is really worth it??

Also if the RAM is 1.35V, does this leave more head room to bump up the voltage to over clock?

1600

Depends on what your systems is. AMD systems scale better with tighter timings and Intel systems benefit from both timings and speed. If you're on an AMD systems, definitely get the 1333 version. If you're on an Intel system, either will do fine, though I believe Sandy Bridge (LGA1155) RAM voltage is supposed to sit between 1.45V-1.55V.

1333 CL7 is only around equal to 1600 CL9. Meanwhile the 1600 CL7-8-7 kit, I can tell you, proved its worth for me a long time ago.

Oh and you forgot something: NCIX can price match here's a pricematch link to $64

Yep, I finaly ordered my custom build. I got the G skill 1600 as you suggested and also priced matched almost every single part in my build. I looked at price match canada and also looked at the best priced listings on directcanada, tigerdirect, newegg... total came up to 1267$ for the following build... this isn't including a few mail in rebates.

I already have a keyboard and mouse, and will be connecting this system to a 1080P screen in my basement... so no need for a monitor.

Hopefully in a few months I will also be able to pop in a newer bulldozer cpu.

Thanks for every one help, I'll be updating my sig hopefully in the next week or so.

I'd say that's a very decent rig you've been able to come up with
The only huge problem I have is that power supply. There is no way you could run a 125W processor and a really high TDP video card without blowing that little piece of crap unit up. I got severe fluctuations on that particular unit... running an Athlon II x4 with integrated graphics. I hope you at least got another PSU for that. Not too huge a fan of the case either but I guess that isn't as huge an issue as the PSU.

"And I'm trying to figure out way most people thinks all AMD Athlon II or Phenom II can it 4.0ghz+."
No One want s to be left behind....i wonder how many actually do the testing for stability or just pump up the multiplyer and just hit the validate button before it crashes....

oh, I forgot to include the 750W Antec true power supply in my rig description. The 480W one comes with the casing, I just liked the look of that perticular casing.
