[Mash] And the Winner of Google’s Ultra High-Speed Internet Is … - Page 8

I can not even begin to express how pissed off I am that a small town like Kansas City, Kansas (yes read the article it is in fact Kansas) gets the fastest internet this country has ever seen, while I'm stuck with 20 mbps "fiber" which is really ADSL2+. To add to that, I'm really only getting 15mbps. Upload is a joke here too, only 896 Kilobits/sec.

My favorite BBQ is Smokehouse in Gladstone (aka Happy Rock).
Let me clear that up for you "Johnson County, KS = AKA: Thinks and act like they are the richest county in the country...reality hurts though.

Smokehouse is good. But Jackstack is better. Gates is really good. Lots of people like Arthur bryant...I think they are so-so.

Personally I think KCK is 87% ghetto, mostly low income, 80+ year old houses. I am sure there are nice parts of it, but everything that is near the highway is just run down and looks like crap. I know the main train yards are over there, Associated wholesale grocers have a huge main hub over there.

Yeah, In Houston 8 years ago I was getting over 6mb down. Going backwards I guess. For now. It gets the job done and online gaming is ok.

My city already gets 1 Gb/s internet, just not from Google.
So, big deal? Nope.

I am seriously thinking that Google is going to price this at $50-70 a month. That's in-line with most other ISPs for their paltry internet service. If the pipes are laid and the infrastructure is ready for it then it should be affordable.
