I bought the 2nd card from TigerDirect directly around Feb 10th.
It's a revision 1.2. It does NOT have the XFX Stamped into the back.

They are both identical apart from the XFX missing on one.
Both are reference.
Both have identical stock BIOS. Both are flashed with shader unlocks.
wierd. you would think the ver 1.2 would have the xfx stamp and the original 1.1 would have the reference grill.

So you flashed to full 6970 on both cards or only the shader unlock? And what clocks are you seeing on the cards? Any discernable differences in overclocking or performance?

Maybe it's just a new cost cutting measure?

Yea, it's weird. Initially I had a 1.0 and the 1.1 card. The 1.0 card didn't have the XFX logo either, only the 1.1 card had the logo. I had problems with the 1.0 card artifacting etc, so I sent it back. I got the 1.2 in return, still without XFX logo.

Both cards are clocked with stock bios, unlocked with shaders only. Both cards are only clocked to 840/1325 stock voltage. No problems so far.

No need to really OC on these things at the moment. 1 of them maxes anything I play and I'm no bencher either. 2 are fairly overkill for my gaming needs, but oh well
