i7 2600k is HOT! - Page 2

The stock cooler does suck, really bad. But I don't think it would hit 80c on load at stock, that's a bit ridiculous.

We're geniuses who don't want to deal with legitimate watercooling.

Just to break the trend.

A wild NH-D14 appeared!

I had a similar issue with my stock cooler on my i7-950. Turned out there was a pushpin that was not quite pushed all the way in. For now just go back and try to push each pin down without pressing too hard to damage the motherboard.

If that doesn't help I would suggest spending like $30 on a Cooler Master Hyper 212+.

Not overclocked yet, Stock cooler until Friday (rasa 750 kit comes). Only thing i can think of is maybe a little bit too much thermal paste. Ill take it off, clean, and reapply and see if it helps

Just try reseating the heatsink since you will going to get the WC kit in two days. Personally, I won't even run any stress test since your rig is not considered completed.

ya, another reason i think it may be getting hot is the fan seems to spin low rpm the whole time...and it is set to spin up when the heat builds. Anyone know what max rpm is for the stock cpu cooler fan?

This. Disable fan speed in bios to have fans running 100% all the time.

I believe for Intel it's called Q-Fan Control and CH-Q Fan Control. Something like that
