Personally ive had terrible service with virginmobile. Both customter support and phone service. I would go with rogers because of the good things ive heard with them.

Iphone 4 is the 'I buy what it does for me' de'facto.

Samsung Galaxy is the 'I buy to make it do for me' phone. You can program the living crap out of Android .

In terms of phones... I'd pick the Galaxy S Captive. Dunno about service options though.

HTC desire/Z/HD/incredible? All lovely phones (I have a desire myself) and the dev support is much more extensive for HTC phones than samsung(and the milestone, its locked down to hell and back).

Of course if that doesn't matter to you go with whatever you want. I say have a play with all of the above in store though, you may take a liking to something you didn't think you would.
