I7 980x Temps question

Thread Starter
Hey everyone, I was overclocking my 980x yesterday and just wondering if my temps are what they should be, the cpu cooler is h70 liquid from Corsair. The chip is clocked at 4.0 GHZ and at 1.247v as of right now, I am around 33C idle. When I run prime 95 it gets up to as high as 75 on the hottest core... This is with hyper threading on and completely stable 24 hours... Is this temperature too hot?

It's best to keep your temps below 75, Below 70 Ideally. Do you have the H70 in Push/Pull?
That's about the limit you would want for 24/7, just keep an eye on it when using apps that can load up all the threads.

Yes sir. Now this is on prime only. Usually they are always below 65 even after hours of gaming... Just was a bit worried.

Yes push/pull. I was even planning to get Delta fans with 250 cfm to move that temp

It sounds like your H70 isn't seating well. A friend of mine had a similar problem. I'd suggest reapplying your TIM. If that doesn't help, consider lapping the chip/block or upgrading your TIM and fans. Don't use Deltas; loud fans ruin the computing experience. Get some Gentle Typhoons or some Noctuas. Your ears will love you for it.

This were my temps at 4.2GHz with an H50. Try reseating your CPU cooler.

My max load temp is about 61 with my 980x @ 4.0ghz and 1.3v. Idle is 30 with speedstemp the downclocked idle is 23. I'm using 2 3000rpm scythe kaze ultras on my h70. It's pretty loud though.

I am using arctic silver 5 as my thermal paste. The h70 seems to be seated correctly... I will try to do it again. Thanks for the advice man.
