Change to Corsair Vengence Ram. Same price and better performance.

That's why "Don't do this". Your build is incredibly unbalanced.
This isn't a gaming system, there is absolutely no performance difference between Corsair and G. Skill.

I would normally tend to agree on a better case and PSU, however there is a budget to be within.

Trading software will make better use of a SSD than a HDD, 64Gb really is not enough for it.

In other words know your **** before you start spewing it out your mouth.

EDIT

If the Z68 boards were out I would recommend getting that, and drop the Vid Card all together. Yet OC the CPU.

Agree with the last statement whole-heartedly.

I do however question the idea of putting a solid-state drive in the machine of someone who is doing day-trading. My understanding is that this person who is coming to you for advice on a build isn't very technically-minded or computer literate on their own accord. I highly recommend going with a standard hard drive (The samsung spinpoint is an amazing drive) for someone who doesn't have the time, know-how, or technical understanding to periodically re-image their SSD to preserve performance.

I also don't agree with many of the component choices, mainly the video card, and the cheap hokey case. Money that would be dedicated to the SSD is much better spent on a more reasonably equipped video card, and a solid case with better aesthetics for a business environment.

However, you are on overclock.net, and you are susceptible to overclockers and power-hungry enthusiast users recommending components that they themselves would use in their personal machines. Do yourself a favor and step back for a minute and think whether this day-trader needs an i7-2600k capable of blistering speeds while folding, gaming, and overclocking.

I recommend something quiet and modest, and spending the money on monitors and other useful equipment to make him happy.

If the trader had funds of typical traders, most I know are running 1366 980x's and a few 990x's now. However the OP stated a 1k budget which that chip alone costs.

k. But I do know my stuff and think most people will agree with me. I wouldn't risk using a Rosewill PSU ever. Also check my last post. Plenty of room for a good case and PSU.

thanks for all the response guys!! He just told me that his macbook is lagging him while he does his trading so i am just assuming he needs a blazing fast computer. SB with 1k budget is enough in my opinion ( correct me if i am wrong) Decent graphic card is a plus. Also he has a 10MB internet connection. So im going to assume this SB computer will fit his needs

This was the point I was trying to make...
1. DO NOT GET an i5-2500k, he needs at minimum an i7-2600k (FOR HYPER-THREADING). This will also need to be OC'ed to at least 4.2 minimum - 5.0 is best.

2. 1k budget is a very very weak budget for what he needs. (Really he would be better off with an i7-990x, OC'ed to the same 4.5 - 5.0 (but this is a 1k chip which if 1k is your budget your screwed)

3. he does not need GAMING graphics, all these teenage gamers trying to say hey get this will not be what he needs.

So if your stuck at no more than a 1k budget you have your work cut out for you. Most Stock traders I know will easily drop 3-5k on a system. My trading system was approx 3.2k.
So if you want to piss your friend off and build him a system that will be about on par with what he has now (making him feel like you just wasted his money), go ahead and get him what the others are recommending, otherwise get him the things that he needs...
i7 period (i don't care if it's SB or a 980-990x)
8GB RAM (minimum)
SSD (For OS and TRADING Software) Long term file storage yeah hdd is fine.
Videocard (highend is pointless, it's not gaming)

Macbook stats

Processor and memory
Intel Core 2 Duo
2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 3MB on-chip shared L2 cache
1066MHz frontside bus
2GB (two 1GB SO-DIMMs) of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM; two SO-DIMM slots support up to 4GB

So regardless of if you agree or not agree. Why not find out what, is needed for the purpose.

If he was needing a gaming system what you suggested would be fine, the fact is this is not for gaming. Not sure why you can not understand that.

EDIT
Here is just 1 example.

CQG Spreader System Specifications
CQG Spreader is a tool for spread traders needing sophisticated order management and ultra-low latency trade execution. Customers can easily create, trade, and manage multi-legged, intermarket, intramarket, and cross-exchange spreads as well as effectively manage incomplete spread orders. With CQG Spreader, traders can manage spreads across accounts and asset classes.

Recommended Specifications
• Operating System: Windows® 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP. Windows 2000 is not supported.
• Processor: Intel® Xeon® processor W5500 series or Intel Core™ i5 or i7.
• Memory: 4GB RAM. 6GB or better for Vista or Windows 7 (64-bit operating system).
• Hard Drive: 320GB Performance RAID 0 (2 x 160GB WD Raptor SATA 1.5GB/s 10,000 RPM HDDs
with 6GB-10GB of free hard drive space. 30%-40% of free disk space is advisable for overall system
performance. Solid-state drive (SSD) is encouraged.
• Video Card: 256Mb recommended with 128Mb per port supporting DirectX version 9.x or higher.

The OP really needs to plan for a higher budget, tho it is not needed for the graphics demands of gaming, having a better vid card for multiple displays would be preferred.
