Looking for a New Soundcard - PLEASE HELP - Page 2

Hmm that complicates things much more. I don't know of a receiver that could ouput two different signals. Of course you could hook up multiple inputs from either computer, but only would be able to play one at a time. Not to mention most products mute other outputs when headphones are plugged in.

What I would do at this point is get a lower end soundcard that will meet your needs for now. Then in the future if you do buy quality speakers you can look for something like I posted above in combination with an amp or a reciever. HD555s will work fine without an amp and 2.1s are active so there won't be any issues there.

Thanks. What I may do is get a DAC and a receiver and put the money I would spend on a sound card into that. Now I will just have to find a receiver that will do the trick. It does not need to be super high end of course. But, what I will use it for I will want it to do it superbly. This way I am left with expansion room in the future if I use speakers. It shouldn't cost me an arm and a leg if I planned on $200 anyway for sound card. Just use that to get an external DAC and then put the $250+ I have at BB against an appropriate receiver to keep costs down.

It will be an awesome setup by the end of summer.... New Sandy Bridge, Bulldozer build when it comes out for the wife, home server, her FX laptop, DAC, receiver, new desk(s), and down the road new speakers. Hopefully down the road I can get another UltraSharp as well.

On to the receiver hunt!

I would snatch this up in a heartbeat:

Unfortunately couldn't find that model online at best buy. Maybe they have it in stock somewhere at a store, because I know they do carry other HK models.
