6870 Crossfire question

Thread Starter
Hey there all - This will be my first multi-GPU endeavor.

I am about to be getting a 2nd 6870 to Crossfire with my XFX. I am thinking about pulling the trigger on a Sapphire 6870.

Anyways, does anyone have any advice on the best drivers out for this setup right now? Is it just the best idea to get the most current and enable CF through catalyst?

Am I able to run 3 monitors (NOT eyefinity, just hooking a 32" HDTV in for a 3rd display when I want to watch movies.) with the 2 cards, without an active adapter? Plugging in my 2 main monitors into one GPU, and the HDTV into the 2nd GPU? Or does CF disable the 2nd cards video outputs?

Is it recommended to boot into safe mode, uninstall current drivers, and reinstall new drivers and enable CF when I get the new card? Or is that a bit of overkill for what I am doing?

Any quick tips would be much appreciated!!!

Thanks

The 11.2 driver's work fine and so do the 11.4 beta drivers. Make sure your in fullscreen mode on games, or Crossfire will not turn on. You won't need to uninstall driver's, but you need to run the CAT profiles apps also for the Crossfire settings.
