Dragon Age 2: CTD

Thread Starter
Has anyone been getting random CTDs on DA 2 with DirectX 11? This happened to me once when I first entered Kirkwall and then it happened to me again today when I was heading into Lowtown. It CTDs and says Dragon Age 2 has stopped working. I heard this if you change to directX 9 or 10 there is no CTDs. I don't see an option of changing it to DX10, I can only choose from DX9 and 11. I do not plan to play this thing under DX9 =|!! Are there any fixes that have been released?? I am playing on my Sig rig.

I've been getting this in multiple games ever sine I switched from my 5870 to GTX 570.

Apparently if you down clock your card to the stock settings, it's supposed to be better. I've been messing with the factory overclock on mine and it seems to be helping. I was getting tons of crashes in Fallout 3 before this, but that game is known for it. I also had the odd crash in Mass Effect 2 when I played that.

Currently I think my card is at 775core and 900 memory with shader locked to core. I was using 1.013v but it crashed for the first time in about 10 hours of playing so I bumped the voltage back up to the default of 1.025v. We'll see how that goes over the next few days.

Kinda want to sell this 570 and go 6970

Try playing on High instead of Very High? Alot of complaints on the Bioware forums about running DX11 stem from people running Very High. When they run High most issues seem to resolve themselves.

Also are you running the high resolution textures pack? If so the visual differences aren't that great between DX9 and DX11 while you get staggeringly better performance, at least not from what I've noticed.

With all this said there does seem to be issues with DX11. There's a huge thread about it over on the technical forum for PC on Biowares forums.
