New Laptop

Thread Starter
I am in need of a new laptop. i am looking for the following (or as close as possible):

- Under 850.00
- Great battery life
- Decent GPU (330m or better)
- professional looking. this is for business, so I do not want a gaudy looking laptop.
- Portable (this is going to be used while out of the house, so it needs to be able to be put into a messenger bag or briefcase and taken with me)
- Dual Core, preferably Quad Core.
- Do not care about OS.
- SSD is preferred
- Lightweight
- Last me at least 2 years
- can install VMware or other virtualization program to have Server 2008 R2 running as a test bed (so a decent amount of RAM is a requirement).

I was debating a Macbook Pro 13 (last generation) which I can find on Craigslist for my price. I know I can find better specs on a Windows system, but this meets almost all of my requirements. I was also debating a Macbook Air 13" (new generation), but that would increase my price by a hundred.

Is there something better that can meet what I need?

thanks.

What's the need for a GPU? Gaming? Because outside of that Acer I'd be saying a Clevo based 13.3 but it only will have the Intel HD (fine for HD playback so general office things).

A sager np5160 would fit everything but the ssd requirement, and portability. It's obviously going to be large then a 13" and heavier too but at:

14.72” (w) x 9.84” (d) x 0.98~1.46” (h)
5.73 lbs with Battery Pack

I would call it very reasonable for what you are looking for.
It comes with a 2630qm (quad) sandybridge cpu, 15.6" screen, 540m with optimus, and 4 gigs of ram.

Here is a link to configure one yourself as these laptops are built to order.

There are very few times where I would recommend that macbook air, but now is one of them. They somehow can pull off a very sleek look, while remaining completely professional. Not only that but they are light and have suburb battery life.

Would you be interested in a used (albeit in damn good condition) HP Envy 15, the specs are in my sig (I have the original 500gb hdd also if you want it). I also have a suede case, the 9 cell slice battery, and a BUILT case for it.
I'd say if fits all of your requirements. And as for price, I'd go with around 820+shipping. Interested?

I actually sold my old HP Envy 15 (2nd gen) to get a new laptop. It was a nice laptop, but I was unimpressed with it.

Thanks for the offer, though.

I would game a little on the machine, if it was capable. Also, I would do video and photo editing (light editing) on it.
