This was supposed to be a game developed solely for PC, right? Remember this thread?

A game developed using technology found in hardware that was implemented as early as late 2002- early 2003 is not something I'd want to see in a game made solely for PC released in 2011.

Let me guess, Crytek will sue these players for exploiting a hole in their security? Kind of like Sony did?

The sales that Crysis had blew away their predictions. Then they went "well hurr durr, there's a bunch of people who downloaded it, each of those is a lost sale" and then got all pissy because of GREED. Then they started talking crap about how they "have" to bring Cry2 to consoles for profitability. My ass, Crysis 1 was plenty profitable, you just want blow to snort off the hookers you've already got. Greedy pricks.

A space can go after a period, yaknow..

You can't seriously value good looking graphics over a fun and secure multiplayer?
Dx11 won't do anything significant. It's not even really meant to do anything. It rounds out some objects, softens some shadows and [could] give a very tiny performance boost, if implemented correctly. but it won't make a colossal difference.
Now if I log onto multiplayer one day and its full of hackers, and then the next day they've all been banned, the overall experience will change dramatically, in a positive way. (unless you're the one cheating, in which case you'll be a little disappointed over the recent ban on your account.)

and no, it wasn't developed solely for PC. The game was designed with consoles in mind since its inception. What they really need, if they want to make a good graphical difference, is extremely high res textures. That will make a world of difference.

This is a joke? Right? Tell me you're joking. I have to hear those words.

EDIT: Just saw your response...

Too lazy? Did you stop to think that only 1-2% of their customer base would even be using DX11? So, what's the point of even implementing it. If you cannot give them a financially sound reason to implement it, then you're barking up the wrong tree.

You'd rather Crytek spend time to get DX11 into the game for those 1-2% of people instead of them fixing cheating, which will affect all people playing multiplayer? Do you even realize that implementing DX11 shaders into the game will make literally no visual difference whatsoever? They'd have to actually get things like tessellation setup, or make use of geometry shaders or instancing, for it to even be a recognizable difference, and even then, the game would be no more fun than it was in the first place.

Wanting DX11 before cheat fixes has got to be one of the dumbest things I've heard in awhile...

Exactly what Ive been saying. DX11 not going to make much difference unless the textures are changed to High Detail. Now why would a developer after release change all their ingame textures to satisfy the whingers of the PC community? It's just not going to happen. We will just have to wait till Crysis 3 to see if they actually take from what they have learnt.

Game is fine the way it is, bar few things such as the cheaters and multilayer issues. Which i'm sure will be patched soon.

Isn't this a good thing? This means it's not something they just whipped up in a few days like some people were expecting.

I think it's sad that I'm switching over from my retail copy of crysis 2 to reinstall my 'borrowed' copy of Crysis and apply some of those sweet visual mods. any suggestions on which ones are the best?

I honestly would have settled for Crysis graphics with some better physics and bullet penetration. Would that have been so bad?

can't believe I paid money for this game I won't play. Maybe when it's patched I'll finish it.

Actually it's twice that number, 5.6%. And it's not just DX11 features, but also DX10, which has 56.4%
http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/

If you look at the CPU speeds, you can more or less figure out what percentage of valve's figures most OCN members fit into, if you figure all the people above 3 ghz (disincluding 3 ghz itself), the people who fit an OCN user's general specs are only 6-7%. So I would say that a good amount of people on OCN are DX11 ready.
http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurv...mfg/?sort=name

And the Crytek I knew, the one who made Crysis would implement proper tessellation. And the textures that were shipped are based on ones with incredible detail, as are most all textures. They could easily ship some Crysis 1-sized textures with the DX11 patch.

Sounds like you owed them for crysis 1 anyways. You've got nothing to complain about.

When, before C2 even launch, people spoke of how the DX11 patch would come out a week or two after launch, I laughed. If they didn't launch the game with it, there's no way they would implement it in such a short time; I totally called "months" weeks ago.
