[BD]Crysis 2 dev team going after PC cheaters; rumor claims Dx11 patch months away - Page 6

I agree, having a blast playing this game. Most who are hating on it probably gave the demo a quick try and decided they hated it because it was using lower resolution textures. The fact that they are working on DX11 and it will be 2-3 month away means that they are actually putting in the effort to make it worthwhile

I just don't understand how so many people can be so complacent about what Crytek released as Crysis 2. That was THE game pushing PCs ahead. And then Crysis 2 is released and it looks 95% the same as consoles. And undoubtedly worse than Crysis 1 (at the very least, you've gotta admit it is technically far less masterful than Crysis 1 was). What is the point of owning a high end gaming PC? How is it that console and PC games are converging as the consoles become more outdated? Doesn't that seem wrong? Doesn't that piss you off? How can you all roll over and call that "good enough"?
I could care less about graphics if the game plays well and they look decent. Crysis 2's graphics surpass Crysis in a lot of areas and DX11 to me is just icing. I like to upgrade every once in a while(8800GTS 512 for 2 years then my 570 in Jan) so that I can save money and spend it on what matters. I didn't go in with any specific expectations other than hopefully a funnier game than Crysis with similar graphics. Even TwoCables who was hating Crysis 2 has actually fallen in love with the game now, see what I did there?
BTW, why should I get pissed off? I'm playing a game which has similar graphics to Crysis and I'm getting 60+fps with Vsync on maxed @1080p. I don't inspect everything now like I did in Crysis because I'm enjoying the game and want to continue the story. Gotta hand it to Crytek, most of those who went in with an open mind and gave Crysis 2 a fair chance actually liked the game even those the jump in graphics wasn't as big as Crysis was. The new gameplay elements are also pretty awesome and makes for more replays To me and some other OCN members, Crytek delivered in Crysis 2 and I eagerly await Crysis 3 even as I'm continuing to play SP

I do agree with this though.
I'm a "PC Game Programmer" by the way, developing PC games, and defending the reasons why they have similarities to console games. I'm trying to be realistic and let PC Gamers understand why developers do the things they do.

Giving game programmers a bad name? If you've read through have of OCN they pretty much seem to hate almost all PC game developers in the first place.

And since when do PC owners not own consoles as well? Not my fault there are a majority of people clinging only to their PC and then whining about not getting games exactly how they want. I happen to own both PC and consoles, and it has been that way for me for over 20 years. I enjoy games on both, so I feel fine defending either PC or console, as they both have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Exactly, that's the reason I haven't upgraded my GPUs, but as you see the rest of my rig is newer than the GPUs. Because I can still play the games I want and I don't need to max them out. It isn't worth the $500-$800 for me to get the best possible picture when it doesn't make the games anymore fun.

I'm all for people that do want to spend that money to get that picture however, but they shouldn't expect developers to make every game to max out 2-3 high-end GPUs, it isn't the developer's responsibility to max out our hardware.

After playing Crysis SP and MP i can say that MP is fun but it gets boring fast with no team play, SP was a letdown. I finished it in 6 hours (too short) and the story though different very linear, nothing like Crysis and all in New Yours same environment. In Crysis you at least got inside the Alines, Battleship, Snow, Tropics (Island).

That's part of the reason whye veryone's whining. At least before game developers made real PC games that needed the latest graphic cards... but thats not the trend anymore.

I believe it's unecessary to buy the latest card, let alon spend $500+ on an Sli setup. Some ppl will always have the cash to throw away, but that does not make it a cost-effective decision.

The bottom line is that there are barely any games out period. Let alone real DX11-pc-minded-games. So if you spend $500+ on a video card.. I would expect the game developers to push my hardware to it's limit and make me turn down shadows or whatnot.

Thing with that is everyone on this forum was crying about how they couldn't run Crysis maxed out when it released. Now they're mad Crysis 2 doesn't do the same.

Honestly I'm glad my 5850 can max out Crysis 2 NP. Yes, I'm a bit peeved DX11 wasn't included since Crysis was ahead of the curve technologically and graphically and Crysis 2 isn't, but performance wise my year old card is still playing games like it's the best card out there.

TBH Crysis 2 sucks. It's just another COD clone. The whole SP was so bland. No sandbox feel. Instead you get the same cars, buildings, and corridors everywhere. No destruction either so the fun from Crysis 1 is out the window.

No surprise since it's a console game.

I ask again, why not ditch the PC and grab a console? All you pro-crysis 2 guys are soo happy with the graphics, you can get the same thing on a 360. Hell, instead of buying that 570 you could've bought a 360, and that is identical to PC crysis 2 which you are perfectly content with.

Also, why does anybody give a damn about maxed? The truth is that the ceiling for maxing games these days is very low compared to what hardware is out. This is bad. If Crysis 2's current "extreme" setting were called medium, then that just means that there's a whole lot of room for better rigs to show off. Maxed in crysis 2 has no meaning, hell my old 4870 maxed the living crap out of the demo.

Crytek meeting
dev: Ya know how people used to piss and whine that crysis was "too hard to max durr"
boss: yeah, we don't want that happening again
dev: well, you see, we just lower the bar..
boss: ..uh huh..
dev: and and then voilla, medium settings become very high settings
boss: I don't like it
dev: why?
boss: "very high" is so 2007
dev: well fine, we can lower it even further and call it "extreme"
boss: I think I got a boner..

screw crytek, this company is officially on my ***** LIST, and i support them for the longest time, bought over 9 copies of the original crysis/warhead games, im really dissapointed in them, they can take that dx11 patch and shove it in you know where.
2 month away?? aahahah what a joke, people please, who have not bought this game, i commend you, i was stupid and belived in this company to the last minute, and bough the game, which was the biggest dissapoinment.
this company was about ground braking technologies PC. and now they want to cater to console boys, well feel free, not getting any of my money anymore

you people are crazy right, how can you even compare crysis graphics to the second one??
no mods?
thats what crysis was knows for, its like a completly differnt company released the game

right. cause its the developers responsibility to max out the console systems, and leave the PC hanging. They bust their asses squeezes every last bit of juice for the consoles, but they dont even take even 1/4 the effort doing it for the PC.

you are 1 guy, you cannot possibly tell us why developers do what they do. They all have thier own reasons, and most of them happen to be from the people who own them.

You guys are gravely mistaken if you think PC gaming is merely all about graphics or superior control options or performance or quicksaves. There's so much more if you think about it. What makes a PC game (even a console port) special? Even if I take away your expensive rig and replace it with a midrange rig and force you to use a controller there's still a lot of advantages and if you can't see those advantages try exclusively gaming on a console for a week, maybe a month. Just don't post your massive list when you get back.
