[BD]Crysis 2 dev team going after PC cheaters; rumor claims Dx11 patch months away - Page 10

Seriously, Do you think it is cost effective to sell games to only a small percentage of gamers? Lets say, it cost $30 million to develop a game that is 100% done and ready for market. Lets not even factor in marketing or distribution. Lets say they sell the game at retail for $49.99, Say the distributer sells to reailers at $35(probably less). How much of that goes to the developer huh? The publisher has to recoup the cost of marketing, distribution and overhead. Lets take simplistic view of this and say the developer gets 60% of that. so that means per unit the developer gets $21. To make back the money they spent on development not counting any taxes they have to pay or bonuses or anything they would have to sell 1,428,572 units. Lets say the game caters only to gamers with high performance computers and the game is a first person shooter and it only runs on Windows 7 64bit. Remember im sure the developers want to make money at this to. These numbers are not 100% accurate because well, i have never done a deal with a publisher, and i am sure all the info is in an NDC. But they are not unrealistic. And selling 1.5 million units is not exactly easy when you have such a small customer base. Now calculate how many people can play when you ease up the requirements, put it on a console, now the numbers are much higher. True adding in top quality textures and adding in high end features to a pc release would be possible, but why make your life harder? If you have nothing to prove other than the ability to make a fun game then there is no reason to spend time on that.

Flame Suite On!
Why would it be unrealistic to expect a game to ship in DX11 when the company said it would be DX11? Let's put the lack of innovation in graphics aside. What does this have to do with the gameplay? They could have made it with a so-called "sandbox" feel even easier with the graphics it has.

This has nothing to do with the fact that they developed a totally different game that has nothing to do with Crysis other than having a "nanosuit".

And they did betray the pc community. The same community that made them. And so they DID shoot themselves in the foot .. it's not even that great of a console game either.

I'm tired of that dx 11 drama. It went to the level where I was dreaming about it and dx11 slow down my FPS big time. Lol that was silly. Crytek fix the F@@@@@@ ranking goes backwards issues.

For me to purchase this game I would need two of three things implemented. 1. DX11 2. Cryengine 3 Editor 3. Power Struggle

Crysis was PC-only, so I think they had 100% of their attention on making it great for the PC, but their sales just weren't good enough with the original. They only had 1/3rd the market they could've by eliminating the two consoles, and on top of that the game had some pretty lofty requirements for its time, so even a large percentage of PC gamers couldn't play it at decent settings. Even my two 8800's (which were the top of the line card when Crysis was released), couldn't even play the game at settings between medium and high at 1920x1080 @ 60fps.
How did it not owe new graphics standards? It is the sequel to the most bar raising game ever, and they did hype it up to be exactly that:

Crysis 2 will have a PC version that’s a PC game. We’re going to push it as much as the engine can take. It’ll be at least as beautiful as Crysis
http://www.next-gen.biz/features/crysis-2-interview
Actually, that whole interview is actually pretty funny now. Anybody remember how there was so little PC media pre-release? It's because they knew that they couldn't back up their claims. What a bunch of sleazebags.

Their sales were good enough with the original. They were overjoyed by the sales.

Rockband, Orange Box and Crysis all exceeded expectations.

And this is EA talking too, they're all about the money and it EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS.

Why is "medium-high" settings so relevant? Did the game look gorgeous at the level that your computer could run it? Did it look better than other games which would tax your computer similarly to the settings you used in crysis?

Perhaps when it was released, some people didn't have the firepower they needed to run it to their liking. But they went out and bought new video cards, and were happy as a pig in ****.

Sad thing is not only are the physics in Crysis obviously better, but so are the graphics.

Cue people saying they aren't.

Lol fun video...

Whomever said that the only similarities that Crysis 2 has to Crysis is the Nano-suit is pretty spot on after watching this comparison.

Really are two different games.
