Read closer...this is one-hundred gigabit.

And that's not what this is about. 10Gb, 40Gb, and now 100Gb are data center technologies...no one is getting 100Gb to their home, it's the data centers that get these big switches. The point is to allow more traffic to go over a single port, thus reducing the hardware needed to support a specific volume of traffic/customers, thus reducing cabling, floorspace, cooling, manpower to support, etc.
100Gb switches are brand spanking new, Cisco's only came out a few months ago IIRC. Only the biggest, baddest traffic lines will be shelling out for these expensive bad boys. Heck, even 10Gb is not everywhere yet, it's still too expensive per port for a lot of shops...mine included, we're still 1Gb in the data center. Hopefully all this 40Gb and 100Gb equipment will drive down the price of 10Gb so I can afford it next upgrade cycle.
