980X Folding Problem?

Thread Starter
I was hoping someone here could help...

I have been folding on my 980X for quite some time now, but I have found that I should be getting more PPD than I actually am.

For example, on a 6900 WU I get appx 33,000 PPD. I have been told my PPD should be somewhere in the 50-60K range. Is this correct? If so, what could be wrong??

Here is some additional information:

Flags are -smp 12 and -bigadv and core is A5.

Clock is 4.2GHz and folds 24/7 (only fold the CPU). It is not used for anything else but folding.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Are you folding on those 3 480s by any chance?

No. I probably should edit the OP so it is clear. This 980X rig is only for folding the CPU.

Here are the rest of the specs, if it helps...

Does anybody know if I can fold -bigadv from within Safe Mode?
I never folded in Safe Mode or know anyone that does, you can try though but I cant guarantee anything.

Can you post your log, maybe something might grab my attention.

maybe try taking off the -smp 12 flag? I'm running my 970 without it and getting about 63,000ppd

Also would you be able to give us your ram timings and setting and voltage settings? we have recently found that they can effect ppd on the gulftown cores.

Ram timings for bigadvs has always made an impact on PPD and not just for Gulftowns.

Though cutting the PPD in half isn't something I have seen due to ram timings yet.

just trying to come up with ideas, this one seems tricky

Also just a thought, What does task manager say cpu usage is? Do you have any programs leeching in the background? And the last thought for now, I'm not sure but would the 5 times raid 5 setup leech much in the way of resources?

Also would you be able to give us your ram timings and setting and voltage settings? we have recently found that they can effect ppd on the gulftown cores.
Ram timings are 9:9:9:24. DRAM 1.60V
CPU is 4.215 at 1.40V

I will give it a shot without the -smp 12.

Also just a thought, What does task manager say cpu usage is? Do you have any programs leeching in the background? And the last thought for now, I'm not sure but would the 5 times raid 5 setup leech much in the way of resources?
No that's fine. I appreciate it.

Task Man shows 100% usage. If I drop is down to -smp 11, it shows only 83%, suggesting that nothing is pegging the CPU in the background. I also thought maybe running it in safe mode (if it could be done) would help to rule that out.

As far as the RAID, that is on a different system. This 980X is only for folding and only has the hardware that is listed in my second post.
