i7 950 @3.8 GHz - Need help with temps.

Hey guys. I've been reading up on OCing with these new i7s for about a week now before I tried it. I don't want to go to 4GHz because I am running on air cooling with a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus (only got one fan on it... I KNOW - I'm getting a second soon for the push/pull).

Here is my set-up now:

While running IntelBurnTest at 100% load on 8 threads, my max temps. are around 72. I want to get them down a bit but keep a 3.8GHz frequency.

Hey on 8 threads your doin great.

Try lower qpi/vtt a notch?

Put ram volts on spec(1.64?), added stability will be there.

Remember to always keep dram voltage within .5v (1/2) of qpi/vtt, or damage

I agree, your temps aren't bad at all. Prime95 is insane for the i7 chips imo. I have NEVER seen my processor go over 30% load. And believe me, I've tried. So maxing out at 70-ish C is completely cool (aww, bad pun.)

I lowered QPI to 1.215.

My RAM voltage spec. is 1.65V (running 6B DDR3 Corsair XMS3 1333MHz). This mobo only has the option of 1.64 and 1.66. I am afraid to set it to 1.66 so I left it at 1.64.

Even with my QPI at 1.255, it was still .385 away from my DRAM voltage. Why did you tell me to lower it a bit? Was 1.255 a little high for my settings? It might have been because I just tried restarting my system and it turned on for a few seconds then rebooted again.

What are average voltages for my set-up at 3.8GHz? Should I only worry about Vcore and QPI? Or change the other voltage settings?
