+1 For the Onkyo
It is a great receiver for the price point.
There are better companies out there but for a set of 8ohm 100watt max speakers onkyo will do just fine.

Or this if you can deal with a simple power amp, 5 ch, 100w/ch, originally $800.

For 200 bucks he might as well get a new TX-SR308 5.1 receiver for $188 from Amazon. Getting a used and refurb 8555 for 200 is a bit crazy no, when you can buy the exact one from Shoponkyo for 160.

Hah didn't see that, was looking for used/vintage stuff. But yeah, I would probably go with something new too as far as recievers go.
